Wir tanzten und tranken die Nacht durch. Es war ein lustiger Abend. Clary verschwand dann mit einem Typen und da die Wohnung von mir und meinen Eltern nicht weit weg war, beschloss ich zu Fuß zu gehen. Ich zog meinen Mantel fest um mich und machte mich auf den Weg. Ich lief stur geradeaus, bis ich aus einer Gasse Stimmen hörte. Ich weiß, man bleibt eigentlich nicht stehen und lauscht, doch ich bin einfach zu neugierig. Leise und vorsichtig schlich ich zur Ecke der Gasse und lugte vorsichtig in die Gasse. Dort standen 10 Typen mit dem Gesicht zu mir, vor 5 Typen die den Rücken zu mir gedreht hatten. Sie stritten sich, ich bekam nichts Genaues mit. Doch dann ging alles ganz schnell, sie zogen alle ihre Waffen und schossen aufeinander. Von den 10 Typen standen hinterher noch 2 und von den 5 Typen standen noch alle. Ich hielt mir die Hand vor den Mund um nicht laut aufzuschreien. Ich stolperte einige Schritte zurück, dabei stieß ich eine Mülltonne um, die laut um krachte. Schneller als ich realisieren konnte, standen 3 Typen vor mir. Ich sah sie erschrocken an. „Hast du was mitbekommen?“, fragt einer bedrohlich. Ich schüttelte sofort meinen Kopf. „Wieso siehst du dann so erschrocken aus?“, fragt ein anderer. „I-i-ich h-habe S-s-Schüsse gehört“, stottere ich „Du wirst keinem etwas sagen, denn ansonsten gerätst du in große Schwierigkeiten, haben wir uns da verstanden?“ Liz ist ein ganz normales Mädchen, denken zumindest die anderen. Doch sie hat eine schlimme Vergangenheit hinter sich. Dann durch einen blöden Zufall lernt sie Nathaniel Benett kennen. Er ist in der Szene sehr bekannt und hat mit den ein oder anderen kriminellen Aktivitäten zutun. Von solchen wollte Liz sich fernhalten. Doch das Schicksal hat andere Pläne für sie.
