In Dresden auf der Prager Straße befand sich das Rundkino und dort integriert war das sogenannte Archivfilmtheater. Dort wurden neben altdeutschen Filmen auch un-synchronisierte ausländische Filme gezeigt. Eine Angestellte gab eine kurze Einführung und übersetze, dann während der Film lief, die Dialoge. Leider war die Auswahl der gezeigten Filme nicht sehr groß und nach einem halben Jahr hatte man das gesamte dort verfügbare Filmmaterial gesehen. Besonders beeindruckt hatten mich die zwei Orpheus-Filme von J. Cocteau, die in einer verrückten Traumwelt angesiedelt waren. Einprägsam Jean Marais als der geblendete Ödipus und vieles andere. Als ich nach dem Filmbesuch nach Hause kam, hatte ich urplötzlich die Idee zu „The last train“ und habe die erste Szene noch in der selbigen Nacht niedergeschrieben. Den Rest dann am nächsten und übernächsten Tag. Mir war klar, dass mein ziemlich pessimistisches Stück, ungeachtet wie gut oder weniger gut es ist, keine Chance hatte in der DDR aufgeführt zu werden. Am Anfang war ich noch gewillt wenigstens die Schlussszene etwas Sozialismus-freundlich zu gestalten. Nach einigen fehlgeschlagenen Versuchen, hatte ich die Lust an dem Stück verloren und es verschwand, wie auch andere Arbeiten in der Ablage. Hier ist es nun unverändert vorgestellt.
