I truly enjoyed the extensive detailing of each of your children's possessions and the deep emotional attachment you suddenly experience. I have had these same reactions to objects of the past that suddenly resurface. Though I'm not a mother, I understand the sudden feeling of nostalgia that a simple photo or baby toy can bring up. I especially enjoyed the uniqueness of each item, particularly the decorated aunt Jemima bottle, and how they personalize your story.
I love how it begins, and how the pace is quick as we search for the source of the pouring water. Then it slows down as you're suddenly consumed by the memories. The last few pages are so strong, I love the line "grappling with the bag, I felt the skeletal edges of empty clothes hangers, dozens perhaps- a final testament that life had spread out in other directions." Also, I thought maybe a stronger ending would be the paragraph beginning "dark vacant closets now held only the whispers of hurried searching hands and along..." But that's just me.
Great job!

As one raises a child, it is mostly a test to see who learns the most; and in counseling a child when times are difficult, as a parent, I've very often come away from the moment with a better understanding not only of my child, but also of myself! =;-) Wa do, Elizabeth
