In this contest...in any contest...the first thing I look for in a story is the ability of the writer to compose a decent sentence. You passed marvelously. Does the plot move logically, smoothly? You passed marvelously again (albeit mutant chickens taking over the Pacific Northwest is a real stretch, lol). Can the author create images that are not cliches? Again,... mehr anzeigen

You passed marvelously again (albeit mutant chickens taking over the Pacific Northwest is a real stretch, lol). Can the author create images that are not cliches? Again, marvelously. Are characters, even in a fantasy work "real"? Here, he definitely passes muster. Is pov "right" for the story. Yes:)
I see the contest as dealing with a serious theme that can be narrated in many ways by good writers. Your take on it broadened my horizons there. I'm glad I was able to read this excellent story. My vote, certainly.
