This is the type of story that shouldn't really be reviewed or critiqued. It is a straight from the heart recollection and tribute and I thank and congratulate Barry for having the guts to put it down. I think everyone feels richer for having read it, and personally, having parents of roughly the same generation makes it especially meaningful to me. Thanks for sharing and inspiring us all.

This was just beautiful. It is a true tribute to the man that you obviously admired and loved. You recognized the fact that he may not have had all the time in the world for you, however, he left you with a beautiful gift of creativity.

Honestly, I didn't think I'd like it. But I LOVED IT.
You managed to maked microwavable dinners interesting, lol! And just like many of your readers have all ready said, you were able to get your feelings of loss and longing across w/out even really saying it flat out or without making the book seem overly dramatic!

I don't really know what to say as I lost my parents when I was real little.. I don't have many memories of them and the ones that I do are vague. I envy you the ability to call upon memories with such vivid details. Very well written, it tears at the heart without really adding to much drama. The readers can feel the raw emotion as they read through this as easily as they breathe air. This has been added to my favorites ^^

...that you have such good vivid memories. You brought out several of my own in your beginning lines...I, too, looked forward to the TV dinner nights when my family would skip the traditional home-cooked meal for a packaged dinner. Thanks for reminding me:)
