The timorous radiance of the moon tiptoed into the café, casting faint argent streaks in the air. The night was so hushed that slumber had already claimed every soul. Within the café's confines, the giant clock unleashed a deafening clatter as it struck midnight, the loudest sound to be heard amidst the deserted space. Nevertheless, a commotion, gruff and jarring, the clatter of clashing cutlery emanated loudly from the kitchen on the ground floor. The quietude was shattered as hurried footsteps from the upper floor reverberated throughout the café. Startled from their slumber, everyone sprang to action. With her wand at the ready, Lucy stood firm at the entrance to the kitchen, while Rhine, Emi, Bo, Ervin, and Leo grabbed whatever they could lay their hands on as makeshift weapons. Lucy heaved a deep sigh, feeling exasperated as she watched her Faeln companions pick pillows, mops, and brooms to defend themselves, tools that would be of no use in the face of a real threat. She bit her lip, stifling her disappointment, and marched forward, with the rest following closely behind, towards the kitchen.
The cacophony from the kitchen had ceased, replaced by a disquieting silence that sent shivers down Lucy's spine and those of her companions. Lucy was convinced that the perpetrator was still lurking within the kitchen when a mysterious silhouette caught her eye. Without hesitation, she raised her wand and cast her spell. "Zip a zoop!" exclaimed Lucy.
The enigmatic shadow darted towards the door leading to the basement, with Lucy and her companions in hot pursuit. Upon reaching the basement, they were met with eerie stillness, save for the slightly ajar Portal Arch door that connected to Magiaplana. Lucy's senses were heightened, and she sensed something amiss. With her wand at the ready, she prepared to cast another spell when Leo sprang into action, racing towards the door and yanking out an individual who had been concealed behind it. Simultaneously, Lucy incanted her spell once more: "Zip a zoop!" she exclaimed.
A deafening blast reverberated throughout the room as Lucy's spell hit the door. Leo shielded a person in his arms, causing everyone to gasp in shock and wonder who he was protecting. When Leo finally revealed the individual, it turned out to be Hannah, who was visibly shaken and trembling with fear. Lucy was appalled at her recklessness and quickly rushed to Hannah's side to check on her condition.
Lucy's voice trembled with remorse. "I thought you were the culprit."
"Are you okay?" Emi inquired with concern as she and the others surrounded Hannah.
Hannah nodded weakly, her hands still gripping Leo's body for support. The group unanimously decided to escort Hannah out of the basement. As they passed the café's kitchen, they discovered that it was in utter disarray. Utensils were scattered on the floor, and the surface was smeared with a substance resembling brown, slimy mud. Bo kneeled down and inspected the substance.
"Swamp mud," he announced with a grim expression.
All eyes turned to Rhine as she stepped forward to join Bo, taking note of the muddy footprints leading to the basement door.
"This isn't mud from the human world," she said, turning to Lucy for confirmation.
Lucy shook her head, looking just as puzzled as everyone else. "I have no idea."
Leo shifted uncomfortably, still holding onto Hannah. "What should we do with her?" he asked.
Lucy stepped forward, offering to take Hannah upstairs. "Let me handle this," she said gently, taking Hannah's hand and leading her away from the chaos of the kitchen.
The Faeln friends worked together to clean up the mess in the kitchen, with Rhine and Emi gathering the scattered utensils while Bo, Ervin, and Leo scrubbed the floors and surfaces clean. Despite the strange events of the night, they were determined to open the cafe as usual in the morning.
Lucy brought Hannah into her bedroom on the first floor. Lucy got the feeling that Hannah was still distraught because of the incident. She ought to give Hannah something; she remembered that she had a potion that could relieve Hannah. Lucy noticed Hannah was a little bit calmer; her nervousness might have already gone away.
Lucy handed Hannah the potion and said, "Drink this; it'll make you better."
Hannah nodded calmly as she drank the potion, saying, "It has a minty aftertaste." Hannah observed the empty vial.
"It calms your nerve," Lucy patted Hannah’s head gently, "get some sleep; it’s still early."
"Okay," Hannah replied.
As Lucy descended the stairs, she could not help but feel a sense of relief that Hannah was finally at peace. The recent incidents at her café had taken a toll on her, leaving her restless and tired. For nearly a week, an unknown perpetrator had wreaked havoc in her kitchen, causing her endless stress and anxiety. Fortunately, her Faeln friends were there to assist her in her time of need.
With a flick of her wand, Lucy used her magic to clean up the mess in the kitchen, grateful for her ability to wield such power. Despite her magical abilities, however, the sheer amount of work required to prepare her café's delectable cakes and pastries left her feeling drained and exhausted.
The lack of sleep was certainly not helping matters either, causing Lucy to feel a bit irritable and short-tempered with those around her. Though she knew her mood was not ideal, she could not help but feel a bit annoyed by her friends' constant chatter and lighthearted banter. Nevertheless, Lucy soldiered on, determined to push through the fatigue and continue running her café to the best of her abilities.
Lucy's temper continued to flare up during the busy hours at the café, causing discomfort for both her staff and customers alike. It was Rhine who stepped up to calm Lucy down and keep things running smoothly. Emi, Bo, Ervin, and Leo were all relieved that the day had passed without incident, despite having to deal with Lucy's sour mood throughout.
As the day came to a close, they began to clean up the café. Even Hannah, who arrived late due to an errand she needed to run, pitched in to help. Lucy could not help but scold her for being late, given the volume of customers that had come through the café that day.
Lucy's Magic Café had become a popular destination for holiday-goers in Aston. The crowds of people eager to relax and unwind inside her charming establishment never seemed to dwindle. This newfound popularity had made Lucy somewhat nervous, however, as she feared she may have to turn away some customers due to the recent kitchen incident.
In addition to this, Lucy had to restock her goods as some of them had been spoiled by the culprit's irresponsible actions. Despite the difficulties she faced, Lucy remained determined to continue running her café and providing her customers with a magical and unforgettable experience.
Lucy stood before the entrance to the café's kitchen, her mind lost in a labyrinth of thoughts. For over an hour, she remained rooted in place, her feet seemingly fused to the floor. As she began pacing back and forth, she obstructed the path to the kitchen, causing others to halt in confusion. Bo, sensing something unusual, approached her with curious eyes, his attention piqued by Lucy's uncharacteristic behavior. Standing by her side, he unwittingly obstructed her movements, an act that sent Lucy's temper soaring.
"Are you jesting with me?" Lucy demanded.
"You've been standing here for quite some time," Bo replied nonchalantly.
"I require a trap to ensnare the perpetrator," Lucy seethed.
"I can fashion one for you," Bo offered, his words resonating with a note of kindness. "Just get me a lengthy rope."
Lucy descended the stairs, her hands tightly grasping her wand as she made her way towards the basement. The mere thought of what had occurred down there sent shivers down her spine, and her heart raced as she approached the door. With a deep breath, she pushed it open, and a wave of darkness engulfed her. Her wand at the ready, she illuminated the space and began her search for the rope.
Finally, she spotted it, resting next to an old barrel in the corner. She quickly snatched it up, her heart pounding with fear, and hurried back up the stairs.
