Zdi se nam, da so čudeži v našem od znanosti zaznamovanem času na prvi pogled nerealni. Posebej še druga polovica preteklega stoletja nam je prinesla revolucionarna spoznanja in uspehe v znanosti in tehniki:
• Leta 1938 je nemški izumitelj Konrad Zuse (1910-1995) sestavil prvi računalnik na svetu, ki ga je upravljal program.
• 3. decembra 1967 je južnoafriški zdravnik Christiaan Barnard (1922-2001) prvič uspešno presadil človeško srce.
• 21. julija 1969 je človek prvič stopil na luno. Astronavt Neil Armstrong nam je s tega zemeljskega satelita poln ponosa zaklical stavek: „Majhen korak za posameznega človeka, a velikanski korak za človeštvo.“
• Škotski embriolog lan Wilmut je leta 1996 kloni-ral ovco Dolly....

It would be a loss to me at this point to no longer have a way to keep in
touch with friends who have moved all over the world. To see my friends'
children grow up, to have casual repartee with some really smart people is so
fun and to teach my elders to take advantage of it for the same reasons- it is
primarily a pleasure. You have to be a smart consumer and avoid the things
