Let's talk about Krugman's outright lies: ""The Europeans, he says, impose
“massive tariffs” on U.S. products; the U.S. government guide to exporters
tells us that “U.S. exports to the European Union enjoy an average tariff of

Let's talk about Krugman's outright lies: ""The Europeans, he says, impose
“massive tariffs” on U.S. products; the U.S. government guide to exporters
tells us that “U.S. exports to the European Union enjoy an average tariff of
just three percent.” Yes - true but Krugman fails to mention the EU VAT tax of
17% to 28% which everyone pays but is rebated back to European producers.
Significant? You bet! As per Peter Navarro: ""Under WTO rules, any foreign
company that manufactures domestically and exports goods to America (or
elsewhere) receives a rebate on the VAT it has paid. This turns the
VAT into an implicit export subsidy.
At the same time, the VAT is imposed on all goods that are imported and
consumed domestically so that a product exported by the US to a VAT country is
subject to the VAT. This turns the VAT into an implicit tariff on US
exporters...""
2\. Canada DOES run a Goods trade deficit with the U.S. 2017's was $17.58
billion.
3\. Krugman has advocated for free trade for years knowing full well it would
negatively effect the U.S. middle class - a group Krugman was very willing to
sacrifice on the alter of his theory. So he got what he wanted and the middle
class became so unhappy, they gave Krugman Trump in return.
Krugman isn't as smart as he thinks he is.
