From an American perspective; the euro obsession with America-bashing is quite tiring and passe. It's just too cliche.

But george managed to do it without the "f" bomb or the usual run-of-the-mill insults that we Americans are so accustomed to.

Most anti-America poems, and there are now 3 billion, feel more like the nerdy girl in school slamming the cheerleader--but George managed to take his gripes in an adult fashion in "The Kidnapping of Europe."

There's only one tiny problem here and that is the title. It will immediately put off a lot of people precisely because it was europeans who came to despoil America; and it was europeans that dumped all their empire's debris in America's lap after WWII for America to babysit.

The attitude here in the US then is, "If you don't like the way we do things--stop imitating or calling us."

Thusly, Americans find European "feelings" being hurt by a "google" or a "hollywood" to be...um...
a little bit funny.

So, ordinary Americans will stop reading after the first line of the poem, "The Kidnapping of Europe," but I'd advise others to read it and see how insulting people who don't care--should really be done.

Postscript: I've been to Greece; and how people with such a beautiful country--and women could pass up writing about Greece for this...
confuses me.

But as America-bashing goes--it's best done by a good poet. Nicely done.

Of course it is not about encouraging the rage and the hate this is the part of xenophobic laws of the elite in the UE in spite of their ”good will”. these poems just go for a infrarealistic approach on these greedy fakes of globalization.

This might be the opposite of the poetry that I usually make. Perhaps, Laz is right that it is quite full of anger. But I give you credit for expressing another side of emotions. I’m sure you have your reasons for writing this book. Good luck!

At your request I behaved like a good friend and read your poetry. I have to be truthful and tell you that I did not understand any of it. Perhaps I am lacking in sophistication (which may be very true) - but none of it made sense to me. I am attracted to writing that is simple to comprehend and touches an emotion in me. Unfortunately, this did not. Sorry - I did try, and I wish you all the best.
