What It Is In Their Lives To Which Men Have Given The Name "Morality,"
Of What Use It Has Been, And Through The Action Of What Forces It Has
Tended To Develop. With These Data In Mind, We Shall Be The Better
Able, In The Second Part, To Formulate Our Criteria For Judging The
Different Codes Of Morality; We Shall Find That We Are But Making
Explicit And Conscious The Considerations That, Unexpressed And
Unrealized, Have Been The Persistent And Underlying Factors In Their
Development. How Early In The Evolutionary Process Did Personal
Morality Of Some Sort Emerge? Of Course The Words (In Any Language)
And The Explicit Conceptions "Morality," "Duty," "Right," "Wrong," Etc,
Are Very Late In Appearance, Presupposing As They Do A Power Of
Reflection And Abstraction Which Develops Only In Man And With A
Considerable Civilization. Even In The Homeric Poems, Which Reflect
A Degree Of Mental Cultivation In Some Respects Equal To Our Own, These
Concepts Hardly Appear. But Ages Earlier, Far Back In The Course Of
Animal Evolution, There Emerged Phenomena Which We May Consider
Rudimentary Forms Of Morality; And All Early Human History Was Replete
Writh Unanalyzed And Unformulated Moral Struggles. Concretely, We Mean
By Personal Morality Courage, Industriousness, Self-Control, Prudence,
Temperance, And Other Similar Phenomena, Which Have This In Common,
That They Involve A Crossing Of Earlier-Developed Impulses And
Redirection Of The Individual's Conduct, With The Result, Normally,
That His Welfare Is Enhanced. Exceptions To This Result Will Be
Considered Later; But The Point To Be Noted At The Outset Is That
Personal Morality Is Not At First The Outcome Of Reflection, Or A
Purely Human Affair. If We Were To Take The Term "Morality" In A
Narrower Sense, As Meaning Conscious Obedience To A Sense Of Duty Or
To The Moral Law, It Would Obviously Be A Late Product. But Morality
In This Sense Is Only An Ultimate Development Of What In Its Less

Who am I? My relationship with myself answered that question. Self awareness on an intimate level helped me find unconditional love. I had to first develop a closer relationship with myself. This personal experience helped me to stop judging and criticizing myself, therefore I stopped doing it to others. My relationships began to improve with others, even if I did not like the person. I realized that my personal relationship with myself affected others and created my reality. Am I gentle, ashamed, or merciful towards myself, am I overly critical of myself, or do I hide my true feelings from myself? I used to be unconscious of how I really felt about myself. I had to accept everything about me, positive and negative, even my past mistakes, love all of me even when I was broke. I believe a good relationship with ourselves is equivalent to a personal relationship with God, the higher self, and the universe within. This allowed me to trust myself. A healthy relationship with ourselves can only be possible through self-reflection, looking inwards into our darkness. Unconditional love changed my perception of myself, and that everyone matters regardless of my personal feelings. We are who we are. This way we can love others as they are, this does not mean we have to like them. My relationship with my wife was still not perfect, I don't believe that there is such a situation, I am still learning and growing. I believe that external relationships are a direct reflection of who we are internally. Intimacy which is (into me I seek). Breakups can be one of the toughest things to overcome when we do not learn why it had to end. The stability of a relationship begins in infancy, psychological anguish is the reason why most of my relationships fail. I became aware of spirit within, I started to see my old perception of myself unfold in front of my eyes. Suddenly, a visage
With a hushed leap
Rushed past the mirror
Black and yellow stripes
Like waves strung together
Suddenly, the dressing table trembled
The clock’s golden reflection shuddered
The body – wrapped in fever – thawed out
In the microcosms of blood
In the self and attributes
Are uncanny secrets
In the sieves of faiths and doubts
