It has been three months since she died. 91 days, 2,184 hours I have not been taking it well. I refuse to get out of my room. Uncle Max tries to come in but I don’t let anybody in. I hear voices from down the hall. Uncle Max is talking to someone .
“ She won’t let anyone in,” Says Max.
“ Not even the boyfriend?” asked someone else.
“ Yeah,”
Someone very unfamiliar walks into the room. I throw my pillow at the person.
“ Go away,”
“ Makaila I am doctor Johnson,” He says.
“ What do you want,”
“ I want to help you get over her,”
Her. He was talking about Karla. Karla, Karla. All of a sudden the ground rushes to me, and the darkness rushes over me.
I wake up to an unfamiliar room. Has white walls,blue curtains. Something is hooked onto my hand and I hear beeping. I see Jason and Max standing in the corner. Jason walks over sensing I am awake.
“ Max can you please give us a minute,” Jason asked. Uncle Max just sighed and left the room.
“ Makaila, do you know how worried we were?” I didn’t answer. “ Hey listen to me. I will find who killed her”
“ Who?” I asked. “ Who killed my sister?”
“ Makaila calm down. Let me explain. So I was looking at the body,”
“ Wait,” I said. “ You were looking at the body. Did you open the casket,”
“ If that’s what you want to call it. Anyways I was looking at the body and I found what the police called ‘scratch marks ‘ were actually vampire teeth marks,”
My body froze. I couldn’t get the words right in my brain.
“ What?” I was very surprised.
“ Nobody in my family knows who killed her but it must be someone that has contact to your family,”
“ I don't know anybody who would do such a thing. I mean she was only seven. “Sometimes I wish I was the one that died and not my parents nor Karla,”
Jason held my face with both hands, “ Snap out of it Makaila. I would kill myself if something happened to you,”
“ Why would you kill yourself?”
“ Because I love you,” Suddenly he held my face with both hands and kissed me with joy I have never felt before..
I am going home today. Uncle Max is making me go to school tomorrow. I am still trying to get over Karla but, that can never happen. When we got home it was nighttime so I just went into my bathroom to get ready for bed and that is when I saw her. She looked perfect. Not like the last time I saw her. Her clothes were not spattered with blood. Her hair was not out of place. Her face was perfect.
Karla.
I screamed at the top of my lungs. My head was starting to hurt. It hurt more than a migraine. Like I was being stabbed in the stomach. The migraine stopped abruptly and she was gone. Max was by my side rocking me back and forth. I don't know how long we sat there . I must have fell asleep because when my alarm sounded I was in bed. I checked the time and it was seven. I quickly got ready for school. I did not even bother to straighten my hair. I left it in its curly self and got into the toyota. When I got to school there was a girl I have never seen before in my seat.
“ Excuse me. Hi,” I said. “ My name is Makaila,”
“ My name Isabella,” She said with a thick puerto rican accent.
“ Ok. We sort of have assigned seats and you would be seating in mine,”
“ Oh. I so sorry,” She said seating in the seat next to me . The bell indicating class has started rang.
“ Class today we are going to learn about integrals,” Everyone groaned.
The bell rang after 45 minutes of boring integrals. As I stood up I felt a tap on my shoulder.
“ Hi. Will you help me find my next class.” Isabella said as she handed me her schedule. I saw we had the same schedule.
“ What instrument do you play?” I asked noticing she also had orchestra.
“ Cello,” She said.
“ Cool I play the violin,”
We started walking down the hall. I felt arms around my waist.
“Hey,” I said turning to see Jason. “ Jason this is Isabella she is new,”
“ Hola,” Jason said to Isabella in fluent spanish.
“ Hola,” She said back. “ Como Estas? “
“ Bien. Y tu?” Jason said.
“ Bien,”
I just stood there like what the heck are they saying.
“ So Isabella how do you like the school so far?” I asked.
“ It is good. It is so big. Schools in puerto rico are not this big,”
The one minute bell rang. Jason gave me a quick peck on the lips and went the other way.
At the end of the day I grabbed my keys from my bag and started walking towards my car. As I was walking to my car there was the migraine again. I screamed and grabbed my hair. I dropped to my knees. I saw her at the window of my car. This time she was not alone . My parents were sitting next to her. I closed my eyes and reopened them. They were gone . Jason was next to me . Followed by Isabella, followed by the nurse. Jason helped me get up. Suddenly I noticed everyone was staring.
“ Are you okay?” The nurse asked, “ What happened?”
I took a deep breath. “ I don't know what happened. One minute I was walking to my car, the next I have this huge migraine,”
The nurse indicated for me to follow her. “ Follow me,”
She led me into her office . She indicated for me to sit down. I watched as she was typing something into her computer. She checked my blood pressure and my temperature . My bp was normal but, my temp was a little over 101.
“ Looks like you have a fever,” She said. “ I am gonna have to call your uncle to come pick you up,”
“ No. Thats okay. I can drive her,” Jason chimed in.
“ What about my car,”
“ Isabella will drive it,” I even forgot Isabella was in here .
“ Yes. I will drive your car,” Isabella said.
“ Okay It's settled then,” The nurse said picking up my printouts with medications to get.
When we got outside I asked Isabella for my car keys.
“ The nurse said Jason should drive you home,” she said.
“ Well In my car,” She handed over the keys. I handed it to Jason. We waved bye to Isabella and promised that she would pick me up up in the morning.
Jason and I got into the car. He started driving but he stopped at Mcdonalds. He pecked me on the lips and got out of the car and went around to open my door. So gentlemanly. We sat across from each other at a booth.
“ What are we doing here,” I asked as we settled in.
“ I know what happened was not because of a fever,”
“ Okay. This is not the first time it happened,”
“ What do you mean?”
“ I was in the bathroom. The day I got back from the hospital. I had saw her in the mirror. I had this migraine, like the one I just got. I saw her in the car window this time,”
“ Wow. I don't know what to say. What do you think it means?”
“ I don't know. I have never experience this. But get this, I saw my parents with her this time,” I said. I felt hot tears coming down. Jason got up and put his arms around me .
“ Hey. Its okay. Come on. I want to show you a place,” We went into my car and drove for what seems like an hour into a big high meadow. The snow was covering up a lot of the meadow. We got out of the car.
“ This place is beautiful,” I said breaking the silence . “You could see the whole city here . Places like the town center and the museum of art. I have always wanted to go to an art museum. Learn visual arts,”
“ We could go to the art museum. I can teach you how to draw and sketch thing,”
“ We can. I could teach you violin if you want. You know what's weird?”
“ What?” He asked.
“ We have been together for more than three months and we don't even know each other's birthday,”
“ Weird. Okay I will go first. Mine is in October. October 27th,”
“ Happy belated birthday,” I said. We were in February now. “ Mine was November 1st,”
“ Happy belated birthday too. How old are you?”
“ You don't ask a lady her age but, I just turned 18 so I am technically a legal adult. How old are you? In both vampire and human years,”
“ I am 22 in human years. I am 130 in vampire,”
“ Why are you in highschool?” I asked.
“ Because my parents wanted me to get a degree in college so I have to pass high school first,”
“ Oh. You know we have to start applying for college soon. “
“ I figured. What school were you thinking of? I was thinking SUU. Southern Utah University,”
“ Oh really? What does that have?” I asked.
“ It has theatre, dance, performing arts, and spanish,’’
He shrugged
‘’ I’m not sure yet which college i'm going to,’’
‘’ look at us we're talking about ‘school’ ‘

George Douglas Brown (26 January 1869 – 28 August 1902) was a Scottish novelist, best known for his highly influential realist novel The House with the Green Shutters (1901), which was published the year before his death at the age of 33.Brown was the illegitimate son of a farmer and a woman of Irish descent. He went to school at Ochiltree, Coylton, and Ayr, his academic performance allowing him to study Classics at the University of Glasgow and at Balliol College, Oxford. However his studies were interrupted by the illness of his mother; he returned to Ayrshire to nurse her, but she died, and in 1895 he barely passed his final examinations. He travelled to London and worked as a journalist, contributing articles and stories to Blackwood's Magazine, as well as a part-time editor and reader for publishing houses. At one point he was a staff writer for Sandow's Magazine of Physical Culture.[1] In 1899 he published Love and a Sword under the pseudonym Kennedy King, the same pseudonym he used for his articles. The next year he started work at Haslemere on The House with the Green Shutters, which was published in 1901 under the pseudonym George Douglas. The book was a success, and he planned a second novel to be called The Incompatibles, but shortly afterwards he contracted pneumonia and died at the home of his friend and publisher Andrew Melrose.
The novel gives a strongly outlined picture of the harder and less genial aspects of Scottish life and character, and was regarded as a useful corrective to the more roseate presentations of the kailyard school of J. M. Barrie and Ian Maclaren. Reprinted frequently throughout the twentieth century, it was most recently re-issued by Birlinn of Edinburgh. An annual event in Brown's memory, The Green Shutters Festival of Working Class Writing, is held in Ochiltree, the town believed to be the model for the village of Barbie.
In December 2004, the house in which he was born was gutted by fire.[2]
As of August 2007, the house in which he was born in Ochiltree has been re-opened as "The Green Shutters Pub". A memorial plaque is allocated on the outside wall.

Silas Weir Mitchell (February 15, 1829 – January 4, 1914) was an American physician and writer known for his discovery of causalgia.
He was son of a physician, John Kearsley Mitchell (1798–1858), and was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
He studied at the University of Pennsylvania in that city, and received the degree of M.D. at Jefferson Medical College in 1850. During the Civil War he had charge of nervous injuries and maladies at Turners Lane Hospital, Philadelphia, and at the close of the war became a specialist in neurology. In this field Mitchell's name became prominently associated with his introduction of the rest cure, subsequently taken up by the medical world, for nervous diseases, particularly neurasthenia and hysteria.[1] The treatment consisted primarily in isolation, confinement to bed, dieting, electrotherapy and massage; and was popularly known as 'Dr Diet and Dr Quiet'.[1] His medical texts include Injuries of Nerves and Their Consequences (1872) and Fat and Blood (1877). Mitchell's disease (erythromelalgia) is named after him. He also coined the term phantom limb during his study of an amputee.[2]
Silas Weir Mitchell discovered and treated causalgia (today known as CRPS/RSD), a condition most often encountered by hand surgeons. He is considered the father of neurology as well as an early pioneer in scientific medicine. He was also a psychiatrist, toxicologist, author, poet, and a celebrity in America and Europe. His many skills and interests led his contemporaries to consider him a genius on par with Benjamin Franklin. His contributions to medicine and particularly hand surgery continue to resonate today.
In 1866 he wrote a short story, combining physiological and psychological problems, entitled "The Case of George Dedlow", in the Atlantic Monthly.[3] From that point onward, Mitchell, as a writer, divided his attention between professional and literary pursuits. In the former field, he produced monographs on rattlesnake venom, on intellectual hygiene, on injuries to the nerves, on neurasthenia, on nervous diseases of women, on the effects of gunshot wounds upon the nervous system, and on the relations between nurse, physician, and patient; while in the latter, he wrote juvenile stories, several volumes of respectable verse (The Hill of Stones and Other Poems was published in 1883 by Houghton, Mifflin and Co.); he also wrote prose fiction of varying merit, which nonetheless gave him a leading place among the American authors of the close of the 19th century. His historical novels, Hugh Wynne, Free Quaker (1897), The Adventures of François (1898) and The Red City (1909), take high rank in this branch of fiction. [mehr]

It was not the best day Temari had experienced, as she walked through the dark wood forest that led her to the Leaf village. It was pooring and didn't look like it would let up any time soon, the rain carressed her body as she walked to the front gate to meet a certian lazy shinobi. You could tell by the look on their faces that neither of them wanted to be there, both drenched in the relesing of the clouds. As they walked to the hokage's office both stayed silent, watching the rain scatter after hitting the ground. As Shikamaru knocked on the oak wood door that led to a very let down Tsunade Temari regreted ever coming on this mission. Her brother Kankuro had gone on the mission with her and found himeself in the care of one of the best medic nin's to be alive.
After hearing Tsunade confirming their entry they relized the relieved look on her face, and reterned the mutual feeling. "He's not doing to well but he's going to live..." Tsunade got right to the point, "Do you wish to see him?"
"yes, if you could please take him to me" Temari said with a serious tone in her voice. Temari followed Tsunade into the intensive care unit, knowing it would hurt to see Kankuro like this trying to surpress the terror that he wouldn't be alright. Shikamaru noticing the fear in her eye's walked up beside her and took her hand resuring her it would be alright. Temari noticed immediately pulling away trying not to blush.
Tsunade opened the sliding door reviling a torn version of Kankuro, wich sparked Temari's anger. Shikamaru tried to hold her back but she managed to slap his hand away and run forward to Kankuro's side. Kankuro whispered something to Temari that shikamaru couldn't quite catch. Then all of a sudden after his last words to Temari his head dropped to the side of his pillow, his eye's slowly closing into a deep slumber that he would never awaken from. "KANKURO!!!!!!!!" Temari screamed causing a passing nurse to run to the room in a panic, only to realize that one of the paitients had passed on.
Shikamaru in a state of schock stared open mouthed at the flatlining heart monitor. The sound of his heart failing kept replaying in Tamari's head. Angrily she pushed away from the metal hospital bed and stormed out of the room. Shikamaru raced after her leaving a very confused Tsunade behind. Earlier Tsunade had checked Kankuro herself and came to the conclution that he would live so she was aghast at Kankuro's corpse.
Tears filling her eye's and all sense of derection lost, she gave up on trying to run and merely stood outside the hospital that her brother spent his last dying breaths in. Shikamaru stood a few steps behind her and noticed from the shaking of her sholders that she was crying. He slowly appraoched her being cautious of her unruly temper, knowing at any second she might explode. "Temari..." he said softly as if not to set her off "I-I'm really sorry..."
Temari whipped around and screetched at him tears running down her face; "AREN'T YOU GOING TO CALL ME A CRY BABY?????!!!!"
"No, I'd never do that to you...especially not after what you just went thrugh."
"Stop acting like you know everything about me!!!" Temari screamed
"Temari I might not know everything about you but I do know your not a crybaby." Temari didn't know how to react to what Shikamaru had just said to her, why was he being so sensitive? Confused and feeling half derranged she turned to walk away. Shikamaru grabed her wrist and this time she didn't resist his touch.
"What are you doing Cry baby, can't you see i don't want to be here?". Even though she said that she still didn't pull away, Temari and shikamaru stood there gazes locked.
"T-te-"Shikamaru started to say but was cut off.
"Someone needs to go tell Gaara..." Tsunade inturupted. The two quickly Pulled apart at the sight of Tsunade, there was a moment of akward silence.
"What do you guys need to tell Gaara?!" Naruto appeared out of no where scaring all three of them.
"N-Naruto!" Tsunade said suprised that he heard their conversation. "We were just saying that someone must inform Gaara that Kankuro..."
"Didn't make it." Shikamaru said finishing Tsunade's sentence.
"Oh...Temari I'm sorry" Naruto said suddenly a change of tone.
"There's no reason to be sorry it was my fault" Temari said choking on every word. She couldn't take the presure of knowing it was her fault that Kankuro was dead. "I'll go and tell Gaara the news, I am his sister after all."
"With yesterday's Ambush I won't let you go alone." Tsunade said looking at both Temari and Shikamaru.
"I can go alone Tsunade I know how to take care of myself..." Temari attempted knowing she would have Shikamaru go with her anyways.
"No, I can't let you do that...." Tsunade said Starring at Shikamaru, " I'll have Shikamaru go with you, he is your guide." Tsunade said smiling. "Now go pack up and be at the front gate at 4:06 pm." Tsunade said while walking away to go back inside. Temari sighed as she started to walk to her hotel.
"Troublesome" Shikamaru muttered walking back to his house.
