Beyond Good and Evil is a book by philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. It draws on and expands the ideas of his previous work, Thus Spoke Zarathustra, but with a more critical and polemical approach. In Beyond Good and Evil, Nietzsche accuses past philosophers of lacking critical sense and blindly accepting dogmatic premises in their consideration of morality. Specifically, he accuses them of founding grand metaphysical systems upon the faith that the good man is the opposite of the evil man, rather than just a different expression of the same basic impulses that find more direct expression in the evil man. The work moves into the realm "beyond good and evil" in the sense of leaving behind the traditional morality which Nietzsche subjects to a destructive critique in favor of what he regards as an affirmative approach that fearlessly confronts the perspectival nature of knowledge and the perilous condition of the modern individual.
Of the four "late-period" writings of Nietzsche, Beyond Good and Evil most closely resembles the aphoristic style of his middle period. In it he exposes the deficiencies of those usually called "philosophers" and identifies the qualities of the "new philosophers": imagination, self-assertion, danger, originality, and the "creation of values". He then contests some of the key presuppositions of the old philosophic tradition like "self-consciousness," "knowledge," "truth," and "free will", explaining them as inventions of the moral consciousness. In their place he offers the "will to power" as an explanation of all behavior; this ties into his "perspective of life", which he regards as "beyond good and evil", denying a universal morality for all human beings. Religion and the master and slave moralities feature prominently as Nietzsche re-evaluates deeply held humanistic beliefs, portraying even domination, appropriation and injury to the weak as not universally objectionable. A poem of Protest
Ashok Aatreya’s “Innocent Anarchist”, is a poem of ‘protest from all fronts, revivifying the vedic motifs, detracting Pauranic Akhyans, questioning the judgment of the Dharmashtras and finally the long prevailing chaturyoga’s domination of the imperialistic rule of exploitation of the large section of people and suppression of the uprising mass protest.
Very much belonging to the traditional super-fluent sect of Tantra family Ashok remained a protester since birth. He has moved from one city to another like a nomad never settling anywhere throughout his career and did not cherish any tradition family value & virtue.
“From the day the golden egg came into existence to this day I have seen the wheel moving singing a song Charaiveti-Charaiveti..../for the edification of the masses in that relentless ethical war in meaningless struggle/as the duty bound postman delivers letters/as wounded soldier embraces the motherland when falls/… ‘‘Sorry- I was not a crusader...”.
Ashok is a maverick traveler hoping of a feel good factor but the situation is tragic-‘‘From the point of no return/this is the only spirited moment of a maverick traveler/When the entire crowd is busy with politicians and scrubbers of Democracy/when the scriptures and constitution are used as toilet papers/…..the feel good factor becomes a pittance of a poor man.’’….A proxy of the people/ even a traitorous activity/The vanguard losing faith of people/
The poet in Ashok’s long poems intimately feels this transformation in real sense as he writes-‘‘The brass colored beauty nothing to cover on bare bosoms / But a single flower of Mahua pinned/…They come with tags of Ernesto Che and Mao on their hearts”….and so on so forth, ultimately facing the stalk reality when he concludes his poem-‘‘Oh my mother, my son my daughter my wife my comrade/ Why you all were not aware of all this/Still singing songs in admiration/Perhaps you still waiting for the judgment day/Still believing in the stories of fish incarnation/Still assured that lord Shiva would appear again to kill Andhak to bring peace on earth/The Ganges would free sons of Sagar from the curse/’’. Then there is Wyatt Gaynes, the jock that Melanie had a crush on - along with many other female students. The deceitful creep had used Mel, just as he did everyone else.
Mel and Katie are soon recruited by U.N.C.L.E., which turns out is a real spy organization, to help thwart a former schoolmate's plan for worldwide domination.

Unlike a chair, an idea can be shared by a whole people. The time is right for alternative economics, reduced working hours, redefining work, security, health and happiness, person-oriented work, labor-intensive investment (not capital-intensive investments) and soft power.
The only way to solve the three crises of mass unemployment,m environment destruction and trade imbalance is to move from quantitative to qualitative growth (cf. Hans-Christoph Binswanger). Access could replace excess as enou9gh could replace more.
Possessions possess us more than we possess them. The car is more than a metal box but is a whole way of thinking encouraging domination, narcissism, solipsism and self-righteousness. Consumerism goes through the roof, not population. We have enough for everyone's need, not for everyone's greed (cf. Gandhi).
The dialogue "Surviving Utopia" with Elmar Altvater and Raul Zelik intimates the wonders and obstacles to utopian thinking. Utopia, the place of no-place, is more a goal and objective than a concrete reality.
Economics changes with the times. Once savings was the elixirr and then spending became the elixir. States are different than Swabian housewives. They can become indebted and invest and safeguard their future. What is rational from a microeconomic perspective can be destructive from a macroeconomic perspective. Increasing competitiveness is sensible for an individual corporation or businessperson but may be disastrous if all countries reduce their workforces. Wages are both costs and demand or purchasing power. Neoliberal myths and assumptions give unbounded freedom to capital while demeaning labor as only an inevitable cost.
The articles "Learning from History," "Community Centers in O Canada," "Nature as Healer and Teacher," "Cinderella's Sisters and King Midas" and "Shouting from the Caboose" are invitations to ecological, sustainable, respectful and future-oriented change. "We must be wounded to be healed," Dorothee Soelle said. Have we been sufficiently wounded by materialism, imperial hubris, the financial crisis, deregulation, commodification, instrumental rationality, suburbanization and the work religion?
In "Surveying Utopia," the emeritus professor Elmar Altvater shares the Polish proverb: You can make fish soup out of an aquarium but you can't make an aquarium out of fish soup. The future should be anticipated and protected in the present, not extrapolated from the present.
The future could be full of community centers, free Internet books and soft power if we become active subjects and not passive objects, enthralled in the present and future like children. Music, books and questions make our lives rich and independent of the trickle-down market jingles. [mehr]
