Democracy is a living organism that has to be kept alive, and like those who
came before them to populate America, our current wave of immigrants are the
embodiment of the Whitman experiment in American democracy. These people see
the 'epic heroism all around them that unites the American spirit'.

Democracy is tough work as America and all the other free countries of the
world know. It is always under attack from within and from without. It is not
won just once or twice in a world war, it is fought for and won every day. Our
military and our U.S. intelligence are protecting our rights and freedoms
daily and put their lives on the line, and so don't our journalists and
reporters. They not only believe in America, they will die for America and
their love for America drives their sacrifices on our behalf.

Citizens of democracy cannot be complacent or apathetic about these freedoms;
our hard won belief that all men are created equal, and that there is a place
in America for every race, color and creed, our right to vote, our right to
free speech, our right to a fair trial, and our right to a Free Press.

We have to back up those out there fighting for American democracy by fighting
right alongside with them and not letting their efforts on our behalf be in
vain.

As Casey Stengel said, ""you can look it up:"" Once upon a time the NRA was
something like the Boy Scouts for gun owners, mostly people who hunted in an
increasingly urbanized country. The NRA was about educating people to use guns
safely. How it became the lobbying arm of gun manufacturers and a controller
of our political discourse, our Congress, and our Supreme Court is...dare I
say it...a deplorable story. It is time for our country to face, with sober
senses, the real conditions of our existence, as it pertains to gun ownership,
that is. The rest of the civilized world is not wrong about this. Our
wonderful but deeply flawed country is.

Are we coming fast into the era of everyone and anyone with no experience but
a few good thoughts and bit of celebrity recognition or on the peripheral of
fame is sufficient to be good at everything? No wonder there's fake, news,
fake memos, fake experts.....and fake politicians all around. In the words of

Well, women are finally speaking up to their tormentors, all men, the latter
trying to control them and their behavior by arguing the Bible's indisputable
authority saying that men must be in charge, supposedly coming from God
himself...when the sad reality is that the Bible was written by primitive,
ignorant and prejudiced men that, being deeply insecure themselves, found ways
to muzzle the women usually in control of most things that make our world go
around. Monotheistic religion, likely no older than some four millennia, was
created by humankind to explain natural phenomena and,as important, the wish
to avoid our mortality from being the end of our existence. Of note, religions
are usually dogmatic, so no discussion is allowed as to it's merits. Faith
(not knowing) takes for granted that what is advertised is the truth, facts
exempted. It is now women's job to carry things along and hope it will work.
Feisty? Perhaps.

The Electoral College worked so well-we elected a self serving bigot, who
never really intended to be President, and is now trying to be a wrecking ball
on our Constitution. Truth be known, he doesn't like the job, and is concern

Stevens. We have no serfs anymore. In your wildest, most reactionary dreams,
do you see armed citizens banding together somehow to stop a government
takeover?

C’mon. Be serious. You want to think that having a big gun gives you an
advantage in some one-on-one situation. You are never going to part of a
militia. And having the right to own an assault weapon has never been proven
to be of value in our society. Clearly, the opposite is true. And that’s what
Saturday’s peaceful, yet forceful, rally was all about.

With all due respect, that headline ticked me off, and I'm no Marco fan! To
say someone 'must be destroyed' contributes to the polarization and violence
we now have in our country. The definition of destroy in The American College
Dictionary is: extinguish, put an end to or kill. By the time he runs for
reelection in my state, Millions of students will turn 18 and register to vote
with the same excitement they had with being old enough to drive. Enough with
the hyperbolic headlines that spout violence!
