I'm a Gay man and when I read the headline I just sighed. I'd love more
representation for the LGBT community but-well, I really like Cynthia but
please...Entertainers have a very skewed view of life. Because of their wealth
and circles they travel in are very far removed from real public life. Nixon
has no experience in government, let alone a governorship, in a very important
state that deals with Wall Street. Obama was inexperienced and he didn't know
how to use the executive branch powers and the bully pulpit to demand a vote
on Garland with other Deems. This has long term disastrous results for a
generation. Cynthia don't create a GOP governor in NY by splitting the vote.

Spending $200 to smear makeup on a five year old girl on a day she is supposed
to be swimming is the height of decadence and an indication that you have
enormous amounts of disposable income. Disney has perfected the art of
manipulation and propaganda to induce millions to spend ridiculous amounts of
money. There is so much of the world to see but parents feel pressured to have
their kids experience the Disney ""magic."" There is much magic to be
discovered out there and if your daughter wants to dress up like a princess
while you stroll through a hands-on childrens museum, go the the dollar store
and have her create her own princess costume. That is magical. Disney - not so
much.

Like most people, I was very impressed by these young people and their
maturity. I heard the former senator Santorum on CNN (don't know why that guy
is put on TV) disparaging these young students by saying that they should
learn CPR and learn to look after themselves instead of asking others
(lawmakers) to do so. Seriously? This is the position of Republican lawmakers?
Don't they look after the interests of their constituents and thier twisted
ideologies? Don't they want to protect young people? I think it is going take
another generation before people give up their guns. Who knows how many mass
slaughters we will have to endure before then. What a sad state of affairs!

The best thing about Brooks’s column is the headline “Worthy is the Lamb” from
the last section of Handel’s Messiah. Brooks should have completed the line
“the Lamb that was slain.” But who, in this case, is the slayer? Who is slain?
At the end of Messiah there is hope and resurrection. What is our end game?
