note -two types of wood; the Greenwood ie with open glades usually pleasant the sort Robin Hood is depicted in, and the Mirkwood, which has a dense canopy , can be threatening as in Hansel and Gretel.
Castles usually have more imposing names such as Duart Castle, or Loch Leven Castle or Castle, Tantallon Castle see

But there are many castles in Germany Ireland, England and other parts of Europe some large, some scary ,some cute and small such as Lindisfarne Castle.
I stayed in a huge one this summer called Brancepeth Castle, with doors 12 feet high!
Don't worry about the spelling too much . you might just be wizzing along when you are writing and the spelling goes - it can be corrected later. spell check is not perfect . If the word you put down is an actual word then although you meant something else it will not correct it eg bow and bough. If you can get someone to check the spelling -trouble is they then often then interfere with way you want to write!
i use Ivona Reader a read back programme as reading back often highlights not just spelling errors but word order probs etc. Reading out loud to a sibling or parent is another option . Reading does help with style as a story should be capable of being read. Reading out loud helps with commas -you know where you are supposed to take a breath or pause for effect.
There is a deeper level to dragons; In western folklore the dragon symbolised the feminine , the old earth mother religion. The killing of the dragon by St George and others was a sadly a symbolic triumph of the male dominated religion over the female. (see destruction of the Oracle of Delphi)
I think you see dragons as familiars, supporters, like an invisible friend. So your dragon is not over scary , In China dragons are positive good luck symbols. In China belief centred round keeping a balance between the feminine and the male; this is symbolised by the Dragon and the Phoenix bird .The Dragon there is Yang (male )and the Phoenix bird Yin (female). Although their Dragon is male it is benevolent yet powerful .
i have only done one dragon story. Its called the Black Dragon and it is a love story set in early China and involves a ghost, a princess and a dragon river.
Probably you have now gone to sleep in a fire proof bed like you brilliantly invented for your dragon!
best wishes
