Your writing is detailed and well constructed in terms of grammar and syntax. The evolution of Kate throughout the novel is brilliant, but it lacks a few things. A rags to riches story, especially when it's surrounded with a pattern of abuse is probably something numerous small town girls in middle America can relate too, however, he traumas aren't near as descriptive as her victories in meeting and living with Noah. Therefore some of the victories like her new school experience and love life with Noah don't seem as intense. Could be something to work on in the future.
Also, Kate's dad needs expounded upon. His actions shaped and molded Kate for 16 years, and I understood his abrasive undertones and sick mentality, just not as well as I could have. Noah also needs some fleshing out. Remember, you started Kate and Noah's relationship as one of obligation. It's worth adding a bit more realism and raw emotion.
All in all, I loved it. The devil however is in the details and I would have liked more details about the lives of the main characters and how they manipulate the settings around them.
Really good work in the grand design of the book so far though. I feel privileged to have read it. Thank you.
