Attempts to normalize Trump's behavior and pronouncements are misconceived.
Why pretend a meeting with Kim will occur? Trump went from threatening to nuke
North Korea to giving Kim the gift of a face-to-face meeting in a few months.
How many weeks or months until he sees it in his interest to threaten nuclear
war again? His entire life's history proves that nothing Trump says can be
trusted, nothing should be taken at face value.

Yes it's bad form for this judge to call it out that this particular lawyer is
spending too much money (limited resources) on clients who can't afford it,
hence taxpayers are covering the tab. That's likely to be conflict of
interests for a judge who acts as such.

That said, I'd like to see the success rate of this defense lawyer. Just
spending money alone does not guarantee outcome or even competency, we all
know that. Was he just beefing up billing, with no impact on the outcome?
There is something to be said about plea deal as well, and it's valid to ask
why the defense lawyer is spending more money on a case when it turns out to
be a plea case.

Gun control issues have captured the country's attention with a sharp divide
between the GOP and everyone else, that is, independents are siding with
liberals. Check out the polls:

But instead of staying focused on gun control, the Parkland movement is
already gone from the NYTimes website. What I'm seeing is Weight Watchers,
basketball, plastic bags, dancing at church, trade tariffs, Harvey Weinstein
(again), Trump's wall (again), Sweden's middle class, etc. One article about
AR-15s. I want to know what's going on with the Parkland survivors and
student-led movement for gun control. I'm not seeing anything. That doesn't
help them, us or Democrats in the mid-terms.

This week over a thousand people showed up at a Moms Demand Action meeting I
attended, more than 10X the attendance of the last meeting........and this was
in a red state! Is that happening elsewhere too? Please help keep up the
momentum with continuing attention to gun control. It could make a difference
in the mid-terms......and save lives, too.

middle school ""mean girls"" do to create such a disturbance of he said she
said nonsense that all others lump the whole shebang as juvenile and
pointless. All players lose but he stays on as president.

It's a very compelling stategy for this situation for Trump . If all that
counts is enduring.

Reviewing so many comments posted on this article- anti-tariffs- the fears of
market chaos, increased prices, uncertainty as to how long the tariffs would
last— actually confirms the Commerce Department’s conclusion that our national
industrial, economic base is threatened by unfair trade practices. Small farms
used to be self-sufficient, raising many different animals, crops, living off
a small part of the harvest, slaughtering..selling the rest. Specialization
took over. One crop on hundreds of acres. Raising only one type of animal,
massive feed lots. Dependence on the suppliers of inputs- seeds, fertilizer,
machinery needing specialists for repairs, and on and on. We don’t need to go
back to the past, but we do need to regain our autonomy, maybe in new ways.

This president has finally done something right- no doubt for his own wrong
reasons. And how comical that Republican lawmakers...seem to suddenly forget
about American workers. Heaven forbid they write laws to provide certainty as
to length of tariffs, which countries might be exempt....etc. aka, do their
job. And..hello...we buy Russian aluminum?? While they subvert our election
process?? Wake up Congress!

No doubt, it's hard on this grower.

But he needs to direct his fire at California legislature and the Congress.

It's time that all and I mean all employers follow immigration laws whatever
the cost.

If this grower wants more employees, he needs to petition Congress to change
some of these laws.

I know petitioning Congress is a lot longer than growing almonds.

But if everyone finds an excuse to skirt, evade or otherwise break laws - why
have these laws in the first place.

Come to think of it, some consumers association should start a campaign to
force companies to affix a label on their product (like so many, organic etc)
that says this product was wholly handled by compliance with all laws. You do
not have to mention immigration.

And we consumers not buy products that does not have such a seal.

A bigger problem than Facebook is the ubiquitous ""information aggregators""
which link together information gleaned from across internet, much of it
sourced from public, government databases.

If you have ever owned a business, registered a car, voted, donated money,
bought a house--and if you have had family members who have done the same--you
will all be linked together in a for-profit, searchable database, complete
with your address and phone number, and a list of every address and phone
number you, your parents and your siblings have ever had.

The Republican/Russian gridlock at the federal levels prevents the US congress
from taking action to protect the online privacy of US citizens.
