Although the term has been largely eliminated since its heyday in the 1950s
and 60s, the “alienated “ person is still a large component of our population.
Many people feel ungrounded in today’s society. Where there had been some
measure of stability and feeling of a center for centuries, there is now only
constant change and uncertainty. Even in America, which is the most
churchgoing of all the Western democracies, religion no longer holds center
stage in the lives of most people. Family is scattered all over the country,
many people barely know their neighbors and have little interest in their
local community. Many other traditional support groups have disappeared.

For many people, work has become their substitute family, their main source of
support, their source of fulfillment, and even their main rationale for life.
“What do you do?’’ is usually one of the first questions to new acquaintances.
We have become our jobs. Americans spend more hours working than any other
nation including the infamous Japanese model. Our job is our identity, and
without it, and lacking any other center, many people feel lost and adrift. I
believe that many Americans have so much of their identity and sense of self-
worth tied to their jobs that they simply can’t endure what they perceive as a
loss of identity.

of view. He lies, of course, but that is what he always does. The point of the

This is the new warfare. You do not have to buy a gun, or plane, or spend a
penny (let alone billions) on the old-fashioned expensive military equipment.

The new disruption warfare includes bots, fake social media accounts, election
interference, easily sowed divisiveness, and cyber attacks on our
infrastructure.

It's brilliance is that our Achilles heel is us - the American people. We are
gullible, easily divided, tolerate incompetent leadership (who are owned by
corporations), and our infrastructure is antiquated. It's a bullseye you can
see from across the globe.

Well done USA, and well played Russia. Yep, those gay guys, Mexicans, and
liberal distractions have done the trick. We elected a boob, and are happy to
live in the dark. (soon, literally)

I've never much tried to follow Ms. Coulter, because it seems to me she's
spent her career not doing much more that attacking everything and everybody
(am I being unfair?). But maybe it was only a matter of time before she would
turn her guns, such as they are, on this guy who she so fawned over. Except
here's the thing. She talks about those who seek to dump Trump. For the 60% of
Americans who feel he's destroying our country, to dump him somehow would of
course be nirvana. The 35% or so of Americans who love the guy might object--
which leaves about 5% of Americans who would favor replacing him with someone
nuttier.

This leaves us with some obvious questions. Exactly who does Ms. Coulter have
in mind as a replacement, assuming, again, that she needs someone who would be
even nuttier than the guy she has? And, how exactly does she think we can go
about dumping him? If she has some ideas on this, I'd really appreciate her
sharing these with the 60% of us who would be very receptive to the idea of
seeing him go.

Our Constitution has a high bar for amendments, which is why there are so few
amendments. There are 27, with the first 10 adopted almost immediately.
Effectively, only 17 in over 350 years.

Another factor is the ability of the Supreme Court to interpret and change the
meaning of Constitutional provisions. The Court is mainly responsible for the
longevity of the original document.

There is zero chance that the second amendment will be repealed. Unlike
prohibition (the only repeal), there is not a national consensus on gun
ownership. I may not agree, but I must recognize, that many people equate gun
ownership with democracy and individual responsibility.

Stevens understands that the current Court is unlikely to adopt a weapons
policy that protects citizen's lives.

Even the asylum seekers, themselves, could see the exodus into Europe was
going to end. I recall reading just prior to the closure of the Balkin route
an article on Afghanistan's migration. Germany had done a promotional campaign
to discourage the migration from that country. Afghans were lined up at a
ministry office for passports and one was quoted as saying, "" Now is the time
to go, it will soon not be possible"".

Look, we lost in the Iran negotiations, we lost ending the Vietnam war sooner,
through negotiations, we lost part of Europe for 50 years to a post war
Russia, in other words, you can't always get what you want.
Why not try, he is acting as a neighbor would if someone rings the White house
doorbell. Believe me, concrete steps need to be shown before they meet. North
Korea may walk away again, as I understand they are famous for kind of backing
out at the last moment, but through all the talk in the middle East, why not
try diplomatic protocol any way you can find it. Remember Reagan's face after
he met Gorbachov in Iceland, we did not get what we wanted, but at least let
the President sit down, or stand with North Korea and try to get the ball
rolling. Do you want these missiles going off for the next 50 years, with
everyone living on the edge?
