Look at the positive comments too , you have the stamina to write and you can achieve emotional impact and inner intensity and, remember

I was thinking too that there were two ways the main character could go,

1) she could calm down be less angry by having a listening caring companion type boyfriend with great sex. or

2)She could take the martial arts route and become a champion kick boxer and through that gain the self esteem she craves , and get the anger under control, ( this is a big part of martial arts training, controlling the mental side) and still have a boyfriend but more on the basis of equal self esteem. ( and a listening caring companion with great sex) .

When I think however the current boyfriend, she would have to reconstruct him because he is more than very full of himself. perhaps she uses him ( stepping stone) to realise something about the kind of man she wants and either reconstructs him or moves on finding a new partner. Some men can be reconstructed but it takes time ; for example Darcy in Jane Austin; reconstructed? yes I think successfully.

Women do like to reconstruct, tame, men but some are lost causes, stuck in their ways . Many a woman has spent a lifetime trying to reconstruct an alcoholic, hoping she can change him.

Part of the partner thing is beyond the physical which is important often more so at the beginning,but for relationships to work , there must be growth as each develops their character.

She might be stuck , arrested in a certain psychological loop where she can only relate through violence and because of the physicality she might want an aggressive dominant male now; she recognises herself in him. But if she grows and changes, she may change her preferences.

I think this brings me back to the ending . Was she just going to roll over for him on the greenhouse (in many Victorian novels wild things happen in green houses and summer houses away from the strict social control of that society) and become compliant?

Or, could the greenhouse be a symbol of green shoots, of self realisation, could she find a new way to be, a new "way" in the oriental sense.

The Karate Kid is probably familiar to you , but also a book called "Taming the Tiger, by Akong Rinpoche might help explain what I am trying to say.

I'm thinking of putting the book on hold, so I can redo it and start over again. To make the book flow in every single chapter and to make the book more interesting and less confusing to read.
