Clever writing, with a lot of heart. I suspected the end as I have read just lately, Racing in the Rain, a story of a family told from dogs point of view. I read it earlier, and it is a great fit for The Romeo and Juliet contest.

your review. That you were wrong in the character's identities was tongue in cheek left me with a smile especially since you found it to be a charming story.

I would rather the next one be a happy not tragic ending but one does not know what path the contest subject takes until unveiled - sort of like this story....xo...P;]

I knew a very short distance in, Paula, that this was a story of two dogs :) Just knew it.
The wonderful thing about this short tale is how splendidly you painted the pictures of your two main characters. With only a few simple changes they may well have been to humans engaged in the story instead of two...
I am charmed by the plot, your ability to make it come alive, and, again, by your characters.

It's not a sad but a happy ending. Two spirits together forever is how life should end for all.
