the derrick thing though it may seem lk jaspers its totaly diffrent. jasper in twilight can influence emotions to ocalm you down and get you pumped up. while derrick can change your whole state of mind completly. like with jasper you could be worried and he'll make you less worried for a brief period. Derrick changes your whole thought pattern from its originall state.
