I believe that the "S" stands for subliminal or serenity. On the final floor of the KPO office building, Will finally comes to terms with the wrongs in his life just by listening to Thitch, and discovering how to value the beauty in even the simplest of things. All this time, he learns these lessons without even fully comprehending that simply talking to the monk opens up his eyes to the truth. The calming, hot tea, placid environment, and small symbols of coming to peace with the earth bring tranquility to both the floor and to Will, drawing him to terms with the state of his past and current situation. The novella, though short, shows how the human race's infatuation with materialistic goods ultimately does far more harm that it does good, which I appreciate. The KPO's way of showing people how their wrongs impact their life caught my interest, and the book left me yearning for a sequel about how the protagonist turned his life around.
