“S” stands for symphony. A symphony is, “something regarded, typically favorably, as a composition of different elements.” In this case there is floor “I,” where the readers get to meet William, then there is floor “F,” where William reflects on his actions in the past, and finely there is “S” the wrap-up and explanation as to what both the “I” and “F” floor were preparing William for. Within the “S” chapter it states, “He [William] was excited, yet disappointed. Eager, yet nostalgic, for this sunset would be over soon, obliterated from the day’s existence. William now knew, when speaking of sunsets what it is they symbolize.” It was at this moment in the reading that William truly realized what he had been oblivious to his entire life, the idea that time will never be made back once it passes, so you must choose what kind of life you would like to live carefully. Within the “Irony Department” William is introduced to the readers and the readers attention is captured. It is at this floor that William is taught that he must continue up the building to discover why he is at the KPO. After traveling to the “F” floor William begins to grasp why he is where he is, and his eyes are opened to the mistakes he has made in the past and present.. When William reaches the “S” floor, he realizes what he must change about himself and the life he is living. “S” stands for symphony, as it took multiple things to lead William to where he is now. Floor “I,” the first movement, the elevator, the second movement, and floor “F,” the third movement, all lead up to floor “S” the big finally.
