I'm not sure that this would be a great children's book as I'm sure the poor children would all be in floods of tears at the end of it...I felt pretty sad, and I'm 58!
I like the idea very much and the imagery is good. I could see you both taking your Chrismas drinks and you dressing the dear tree up to make him look good. My only reservation is that sometimes it doesn't scan quite right - the rhythm isn't quite right because... mehr anzeigen

My only reservation is that sometimes it doesn't scan quite right - the rhythm isn't quite right because there's an extra syllable in a line - and maybe you could work on that a bit. For example, where you're rummaging through the decorations and find a star, it would sound better rhythmically if you cut out a couple of words and simply said, "The gold star was last" or "Gold star was the last". Otherwise I liked it a lot. Very imaginative. And definitely worth a star!
