Hi Leshea - I am a Scientist and i read a lot of SF - I like this short story. It had all the key elements - a way through into another dimension. This can be a mirror or a wardrobe or a rabbit hole or (as in your case) a Fireplace. The title and the role of the Fireplace in the story gave it substance and intrigue. We always had open coal fires and one could always imagine that they were portals into another dimension. The big fireplaces in Stately Homes in the UK always suggest that they are openings into another time in the past. I also love skeletons and any story that includes fireplaces and skeletons gets my vote. Well done - JOHN

I love SF and Fantasy. Probably my most favorite of all genres to read. You did a good job here of bringing the story and characters to life. I enjoyed reading it and couldn’t find any major faults with the structure. I do have some minor editing nits that I made note of while I read. If you want them go ahead and contact me and I’ll send them over. I would have put them here, but I’m not sure yet if anybody likes little nits pointed out. Great story. Fantasy only works if you can visulise the wierd dreams that the author wants you to see. I could see all of this as though I were in the same room, or should that be chimney. I would love to know why she was the chosen one.
