Laz, you’re really creative. I like your book cover, as always. This story is well written and exciting. But you need to write a longer version; perhaps, a novel of their great escape. That would be a great hit. Good luck!

Nicely written. From the beginning it pulled me in and caught me up in the lives of the two main characters. to be honest it was like I was there with them.

It's just my opinion and so is the book cover. Feel free to ignore me.

Here are some replies.
The cover is supposed to be old fashioned, like a dark mystery. The first of three three parts of the story IS in black and white. The second part is in technicolor, and the color ruby is mentioned there (the ruby-throated hummingbird).
Now, in the last section...the second line mentions the new main character by his name, Joe, and we already know what he is.
