The plights of the elderly is often tenuous at its best, the living alone, the worry of money, the fright of simply the lights going dark with a power failure (a neighbor called the other night saying just that), and then to have one's own body and mind to betray it seems an insult of the greatest degree. I wrote this with an insider view. If I raise any awareness of how devastating this can be...then I've scored for the elderly dealing with this irreversible disease. Elizabeth

You pulled at every emotion with this one Elizabeth. I fell into your main character completely, and found myself just truly heart-broken at the end (although the very end was also 'cute' in a way :)
I work with the elderly (with memory issues). I currently have a 95 year-old friend who was able to live at home up until a few months ago, and then her memory just 'went'. This story is sooooo spot-on. H***...this story could even be ME!! :O

A lovely story to read with an outstandding depiction of people and surrounding. Voted.

I truly enjoyed this! I personally have a 72 year old grandmother suffering from Alzheimer. I see her talking to herself, arguing and even crying. She really believes to see people who are either harassing her or reminding her of her past. She's forgotten completely of her late husband who past away four years ago and that's why she moved in with my mom. Now she thinks she moved in with my mom after her father died, which was forty years ago. It's really sad to see how our love ones undergo such a condition. I did enjoy how you told the story through her eyes. Thanks for sharing this with us. Good luck!

Elizabeth - very good story. I have some thoughts going through my mind about it, so I may leave another comment later. One thing that struck me about the descriptions, though, was I feel like you describe some things for the sake of putting in descriptions. Some descriptive language is very moving, like the way she describes herself. Other examples, like the fact that the table she sits at is a formica table, doesn't add more than words.I prefer description that invokes some kind of emotion in the reader. Just a thought. Simone
