Another wonderful read Angely. I thought, why don't I meant amazing people like that, and then I remembered, I don't take cabs. LOL!

I loved this story. There are so many people that are hidden gems. While in college I met a vagrant on the street that was a PURE genius. I would buy him lunch almost everyday and he would lecture me on everything imaginable including life. He had his problems but the knowledge I received from... mehr anzeigen

Thanks!
And tell me not, some of the wisest people are found in the most unlikely places. Makes actually taking the cab worth the trouble.

The cabbie might very well have been a down on his luck scholar:) That's pretty par for the course in New York, yes?
So nice to see you've graced us with another of your charming shorts, Angely. Enjoyed every word of it (again!).

that or just someone who couldn't get a job here because he couldn't speak English. But he was a treasure trove.
And thank you, Pat. :D

It's fun and crazy when you run into someone who can be so open-minded. Gosh, I've run into so many interesting people since I've started college - people I'll only see once...and I don't even know their names either.

Can't wait for your next short story!!!

Tell me not, taxi drivers here are like that, freaking hidden geniuses :D
Can't help but wonder were all these random cool people come from 0_o

Adam Lewis LaValley

Sometimes I can turn into one of those kinds of guys. o.o

angamonkey

that's good xD that way you can just meet people, or become an epic genius taxi driver.

I can see a taxi driver winning a Nobel Prize. 8P

angamonkey

That guy who drove me should win one. He was such a character. Wish there was a prize for being randomly awesome.

"Eyes" love it!
"Dictator" - El Jefe, it's unfortunate that men like that exist - and that things described in your story were just happening not to long ago (and sometimes still are...)
"Tan" - I really like the line "I continue killing him by telling the story" - so true

I really like the new editions :)

Loved to read about your relatives and their childhood. It's funny in some parts, and in others, shows the hard life they had to live through. Well done :).

These stories are always captivating - not only because you capture a good slice of the "life cake", but there's a lesson to be learned at the end of each one. I love stories that take different looks at life. 8D

Thanks :D glad you enjoyed my "life cake" slices, and I suppose I try to give these stories different angles, I don't just want them to be this "once upon a time...and then it happened..the end" type memoirs.

Adam Lewis LaValley

The style you write them in is just perfect. I feel like I'm sitting at a table or fireplace listening to the tales myself. 8)

I really enjoyed the book, and I am especially grateful for the translations. One day I will have to start working on my Spanish again.

Love to read it in Spanish, but it takes me so long, and I have to look up many of the words.

:) practice makes perfect in terms of language. I recommend watching shows or listening to music in Spanish, it really helps putting it into context. And thank you for reading :)

Ah. Tan. I don't think I read that one. At least I don't remember it.
Now I won't forget it:) Honestly, it hits me like Sedaris' works in a way. KIND of zany (love your mom's dialogue). And...Tan is good.
Another great installment in the Mercado saga.
Muchos gracias, senorita:) :) :) :)
