Eloquently written pieces! It almost seems as if they were part of a newpaper article or magazine interview. Very well narrated. 8)

this book is addictive girl, wonderful stories as well as revealing. Reminds me of my impoverished youth, so I understand your father thinking well.

one of my favorite things is to hear more about my parents (and grandparents, and aunts and uncles).

it's nice to know that you dad is able to laugh about it now, i bet it upset him to be called names just because he was a farmer's son. i went to school with lots of farmer's and nobody cared either way :)

i'm wondering why you have your text flushed to the right? it makes my brain feel backwards!

I really loved the new story - it's amazing how much you learn about your parents when they start to open up about their childhoods. As the second child in a family of five (that's a lot for my generation), I understand what it's like to grow up with hand-me-downs.

Reading the story makes me a bit nostalgic and think of my childhood.

So this is what we draw on as writers so often; vivid memories of our younger years. Your father's, more aptly.
Because of the way you have written this "story", how you described your father in his youth back in Puerto Rico and the degree of snubbing he was subjected to, I could clearly empathize with how he reacted once he got to the upper states. Some readers have no idea of what it is to be really poor, and yet work diligently despite that. You showed it so well.
You did a fine job with this addition, Angely.
And, I think you owe it to yourself to go buy a new pair of mocassins:)
BTW...The Stars On David was touching and well-written. The afterword made me smile and wish him all safety and God's blessing. Wish on those stars:)
