EXCEPTIONAL! A 1,000 word limit, right? You have excellent characters, each with an important "spotlight". You have a dilemma, hope, despair, and the perfect ending. This is so well done, and it's a winner. Seriously.

Laz--In my defense, I can only say it's hard to camouflage an ending when they only allow you 1,000 words. Seems like a good excuse, anyway....
