It's one of those where I can't help thinking 'wish I'd thought of that'. Definitely a good piece of flash fiction, though I'd have been tempted to tighten it further by removing a few unnecessary words. (Don't want to insult you by going into detail) Keep an eye out for flash fiction comps. It's a grabber.

About the suggestion, you are correct. The flash was entered in a contest that DEMANDED 150 words, nor more, no less, hence the padding. I should really edit the piece a bit and will. Ha! An over-padded flash, you gotta love the irony.
