Creations End: A new beginning

CHAPTER 1

The ground rumbled. They sky shook. There were people running in every direction. The ground was moving like an explosion happen below us. My wife and I didn’t know what to do. Its like life stood still. Everything was in slow motion. I stood there, frozen in fear. What would happen to me, to Lisa, to our unborn baby? I panicked. All you could hear were screams of children and adults. I saw a little girl get crushed by a falling building. She was standing yelling for her mother. She was crying, there was fear and pure horror on her face. She was no older than 3 years old. She had curly blond hair and piercing blue eyes. She looked so innocent. A women started running towards her. I think she is her mother but before she could get close enough to grab the child the building behind her crashes to the ground. The child is caught in the crash. The mother drops to the floor and starts crying. The women just stays on the ground weeping and yelling out Chelsea. The poor little girl didn’t even have a chance. Lisa just held her mouth and turned to me to comfort her. It was a nightmare to see that but for Lisa... She is almost a mother and she was mortified.
“She is our neighbor. Her name is Abigail and her daughters name is.” Lisa paused “Chelsea.”
“You mean that was little Chelsea Lou. God, she just turned 3 yesterday.” I said rubbing my head. Lisa couldn’t look at my face. She just hugged me and held her stomach. You could smell dirt and gas in the air. There must have been at least 80 abandoned cars. The were cars that were flipped over and buildings that were falling to the ground right in front of your face. I thought I was dreaming. This look like it was right out of a movie.
My job is to be a pilot and I own a whole airline and that will come in handy at a time like this. I planned to get in a plane and fly to a different part of the world and start new with my soon to be baby. I figured that the only way to save my wife is to get in the air. We got on my plane and we went up as fast as I could. When we got to a high altitude I was speechless. I couldn’t believe what I saw. There was a big hole in the middle of the city. Cars and people were just falling into nothingness. I saw my brother. He was standing on his car. I swooped down and I stopped the plane only long enough to get him in. My brother was an assistant for the president and he has to know whats going on.
“Zachary, thank god your okay.” Thomas said to me.
“Tom what the hell is going on?” I said to him with a tone of voice I was not proud of but Thomas didn’t answer. “Thomas I am talking to you! What is going on?”
“I don’t know but they knew this was going to happen.”
“Who is ‘they’? ” I asked. “Anyway, we plan to fly to a different part of the world. Maybe Italy or Boston.”
“Its not just us, its the whole world. President Lockwood knew this was going to happen. He didn’t inform the public because there was no stopping it and they were going to die one way or another so he didn’t see any point of worrying them.” He said looking out the window at all the poor people dying.
“So he left us to die!” I said with more rage than I thought I had. There was smoke that was covering the plane. There was thing falling from the sky. I didn’t know what they were or were they came from and it scared the crap out of me. I knew if I got in the smoke it would pull us down so I got out of it but no before seeing a women on the ground. She was not more than 20 years of age. She was standing, looking right at me until a car that was trying to avoid the hole, lost control and slammed into her. I saw her body. I saw the blood and the fear on her face. She knew she was going to die and she had no hope. There was no hope. Not for any of them. The women and the car with children in it then both fell into the hole and you could hear them scream. The screams lingered. They stayed in your head like a nightmare that never ends. No matter how long it was since you heard them, you could still hear them.
“No! He had a plane ready. It was bigger than our whole city. He would pick certain people that would help start over a new life in a different part of the universe but the plane got caught in a smoke cloud. They went down an hour before you found me. They knew this was going to happen. They also know that after this there is going to be an explosion. An explosion bigger than you can imagine. When all the tabloids said the world was going to end in 2033, they were right. We had to deny it because the president would get accused of denying the public their right of knowing if anyone found out. It was a top secret case. The whole world is going through this. Now Zachary, I’m going to tell you something but you cant tell a soul.” Tom was explaining to us. I couldn’t believe that our president knew this was going to happen but never informed us because we wouldn’t make it anyway so why worry us. The man that we are suppose to be trusting with out government deceived us.
“Look around! Who would I tell? Half the world is falling into a pit that only the lord knows leads to. The world is crumbling in front of us.” I told him.
“There is a place were we can go. NASA discovered a distant star off in space but when they went to explore it they found something. It wasn’t a star, it was a planet. An undiscovered planet. Its almost identical to Earth but a few minor differences.” Thomas said with a voice he would always get when he tried to lie to me.
“How minor?” I asked trying to keep my eyes on the sky, terrified what I might fly into.
“Like there is no people or hills.” He continued. “There are plants there that are amazing. Its unlike anything you will ever see.”
“Look around. I have seen a lot so far.” I said. “So where is this planet?”
“We will need a shuttle to get there.” He said pointing to the Sun.
“Are you joking? Its near the Sun!” Lisa said. “Are you trying to fry us like bacon or something?” Thomas laughed but this was no laughing matter.
“I can get us a shuttle but we wont have anyone to fly it. I could make a call but I cant promise anything for sure.” I said taking a quick glance at Thomas but even taking my eyes off the sky for 5 seconds was a bad idea. For when I did it seemed to have flown to low and we were about to plummet to our death. There was a building about to fall and we were heading straight for it. It was not falling fast enough for us to miss it and when I tried to turn to avoid it all engines failed.


CHAPTER 2

We were heading in a downward spiral to the ground. I looked at the gas gage and it was on empty. With all the excitement I must have forgot to fill it. What a rookie mistake and this one will cost me my life. As we were falling I had a flash back. Its was the summer of 2028. I was in New Jersey for my break and when I was on the beach I saw this girl. It was Lisa but I didn’t know it then. I was star struck. I started to walk her way but I tripped. I never was clumsy but there was something about this girl that made me dizzy. When I came to there she was, above me. Apparently I was passed out for 10 minutes when I hit my head on a rock. When I stood up I asked her something.
“Would you like to go on a date with me?” I asked still a little dizzy from the fall.
“No thanks.” She said walking away. Although she turned me down there was a warmness is her tone that made me not want to give up. For the next 3 weeks I went to the same beach, same time, same spot. I stayed there for hours after she left, just watching the water. The shimmer of orange when sun set came and the color of blue in the day time when it shimmered. Sometimes I didn’t leave but other times I dragged myself away. The colors and hues were mesmerizing. The next day I bought her flowers and chocolates and she still said no until one day she approached me.
“Are you a stalker or something? You come here everyday at the same time and place and all you do is watch me.” She said throwing the flowers in the sand.
“Just go on a date with me. One date, thats all I’m asking for.” I said with a pleading in my voice. She said okay and the first date was only the beginning to a million others. The first day we went on went on forever. We stayed at the restaurant 3 hours after the lights went off. We talked about life and how her parents gave her up and we told each other everything. It was up hill from there.
And I remembered that moment like its still happening. I quickly unbuckled my seat and ran to the back. I then grabbed Lisa and told Tom we had to jump. When we opened the plane door it was enough to make you dizzy. When we jumped I grabbed on to Lisa and didn’t let go. I had no intentions of making it but when we landed we were in water. We had jumped into the cities community pool. There was shrapnel all over the water and most of it was on fire from when the plane crashed. It looked like it was raining fire. The intensity of it left you speechless. When I looked around to find Lisa and Tom I couldn’t see them. I spotted Lisa in the deeper end and went to go and help her. When I pulled her out I asked her where Tom was and she said I thought she was with you. I froze. What if he never jumped? What if he was still in the plane and he crashed? What if he landed on the ground and not the water? All these questions went through my mind until I spotted him hanging from a tree. He was upside down and he had blood dripping from his head. I ran over to him. I gently picked him up and set him on to the ground and elevated his head.
“Speak to me! Thomas don’t leave me! You cant leave me! Thomas! Thomas!” I started crying and screaming. Lisa took my head and stared into my eyes.
“Zak look at me. He is gone.” She said in a soothing voice but the voice didn’t make me feel any better. I laid over his body, weeping and sobbing until he said something.
“Zak?” He said in a weak voice.
“Yes. I’m here.” I said relieved.
“I got caught on the plane.” It was hard to understand what he was saying but I could make it out. “A map. In a box in my house to the planet.” I knew what he meant.
“Why are you telling me this. You are coming with us. You will get better, it will all be okay.” I told him but the truth was I didn’t believe it. As I finished that sentence he took his last breath. Lisa gave me some time to cry and get it out and when I was done we went to his house to find the map. When we got there it was about to collapse. The room was crumbling but I had to find that map. I had to. I went straight to his room to find the box. I look in his desk but there was no box. Then I went to his dresser and it was not there. I checked his whole room before I look under his bed. There it was a silver box that said: ‘Creators End: A New Beginning’ I didn’t know what it meant but I knew it was the right box so I grabbed it. Lisa and I had to run back to my air line to get another plane. This time I got the one that could hold the most gas and filled it up and brought gallons of gas with me. The ground started to shake. Lisa was getting scared. It started with a crack in the cement, then it turned into a trench and now its a moving hole. The ground that was crumbling was heading straight for us. If we didn’t get on the plane then we and the plane would fall into nothingness with the rest of the world and I considered it until I thought of my baby. I thought of how it was going to be a girl and we were going to name her Gabrielle Mae Wood. I dreamed of her having a button nose and strawberry shortcake curly hair like her mother and that was all that had to motivate me. I picked Lisa up and put her into the plane and lifted up right before the ground under us shattered.

CHAPTER 3

When we were in the air the ground was still falling. When I looked down I saw what was under me and it was something that would be impossible to explain. It was black and dark. The dirt and concert looked like it was going to fall for eternity. The sky was red with anger. Into the distance it looked like an explosion. I think I dreamed about something like this, were they world exploded and that was the end of life as we know it. But this was no dream. This was reality. I had Lisa take the wheel so I could see the map. When I looked at it I was astonished. The planet was just below the Sun. It has all the facts about the planet. It has water, dirt, trees, plants and most of what earth did but there was one thing it lacked. Humans or any breathing organism in this case. It says that the planet has not been explored by humans so they do not know if it will be safe for them. It was our only hope. I called in a favor and asked for a space shuttle.
“Come on Joey. I need one, just one. I will have it back later.” I was begging to Joey, a friend of mine.
“I’m sorry but people all over the world are demanding them.”
“Joey cant you take a favor for me. Please Joey.” I think that he knew I was serious and needed one now.
“Okay but you cant tell anyone I’m doing this.” So he showed us the shuttle and he gave us a pilot to fly it. I thanked him and Lisa and I were off to find the planet.
“Maybe this isn’t a good idea.” Lisa said sounding regretful. “Maybe we should turn around and go home.”
“Lisa we do not have a home anymore. Don’t you remember and there wont be a life for our baby unless we do this.” And that is what she needed to hear and she knew it. She held her stomach and started to cry.
“Its so hard Zak. I don’t want to do it anymore. I want to go home.” She said as I went to go and comfort her.
“I know honey but you have to stay strong, okay?” I tried to be reassuring but with all thats going on its hard to even hear my own thoughts. The shuttle made me dizzy. I think its be because I have never been in a space shuttle before. Lisa lays in bed most of the time. She has been getting more and more sick these days. She is not worried but I am. She is all I got and if any thing happened to her, I couldn’t live.
When I went back to go and sit in the passenger seat by the pilot I saw something. Something he didn’t.
“Whats that?” I asked pointing to a big, big, big circular object heading towards us.
“That is the Sun, my friend.” he said. I couldn’t believe it. This is impossible! This can’t be happening. “ With the gergectory of it, it will be hitting Earth in around 5 minutes.”
“What! Why didn’t you see this before?” I said screaming.
“I’m sorry, I was focusing on oh I don’t know, flying the shuttle!” He said back and he had every right to. Even if he did see it there was nothing we could do about it. All we could do is watch. Watch our home get destroyed before our eyes and so we did. The pilot put the plane in auto pilot and watched with us. The Sun was magnificent. It had bright red and orange hues and the shape was just glorious and then it happened. It hit the Earth and I saw it crumble to pieces. I remembered that my mother was there. A bunch of questions went through my head. Did she feel anything? What was her last words? I hated my self for not being there, for not helping her and I will never get another chance. The Earth fell apart.
“Well I guess you don’t have to return the shuttle.” The pilot said laughing. That really ticked me off because I was devastated that the Earth was gone and he was laughing and cracking jokes.
“You got nerve, ya know.” I said. “The Earth is gone. Do you not understand that. Goodbye home. This is no laughing matter.”
When the Sun hit it it was like it caught on fire. It was red with flames. The light hurt to stare at it for too long but I couldn’t look away. Lisa was still sleeping and I didn’t want to wake her because it would be traumatizing for her to see that. The pilot said that if we didn’t get out of the spot we were in that shrapnel from the Earth would orbit right into us. When we took off I couldn’t take my eyes off my home. To think that I can never return to that place again. That everything I cherished is gone. When Lisa woke up I told her what had happened but she didn’t believe me until she looked out the window and saw that Earth was no more.

CHAPTER 4

It was that day that it really sank in. We would never see or family and I If didn’t know if she had the strength to hold on to us and our baby. We were in outer space for what seemed like forever. The pilot seem to began to get worried because we were running out of fuel and only had one refill left.
“If we don’t land somewhere we will be stuck in space forever.” He said.
“But we are still light years away from the planet. Their has to be something you can do.” I said but he shook his head. I thought in my head. There are stars all around us and if we were to land on one maybe we could stay long enough to figure out a plan. When I told the idea to Mike the pilot he said that our best chance would be to land on the moon and I agreed. It took us about 10 minutes to get their and we had to put space suits on before we left the shuttle. I insisted that Lisa should stay in the shuttle because it might not be good for the baby but she is as stubborn as a mule.
“If today may be my last day then I want to live it to the end.” She said. When we got off the shuttle I felt so free. I kept looking back to where the Earth once was. This all seemed fake. Like I am dreaming but know matter how many times I pinch myself I don’t wake up. Its all a bad dream I keep telling myself but then reality sets in. The moon was so extraordinary. It had bumps and wholes all over the place. I wanted to stay there because I got a feeling like nothing could stop me when I was there. Lisa was doing the moon walk and jumping up and down. She looked like she was having so much fun. I sat down with Mike and we discussed what we are going to do.
“We have a third of a tank full of fuel. It wont last very long but we may be able to make it to the planet.” Then when he finished that sentence we heard a mans scream. Lisa came running our way.

CHAPTER 5

“What was that?” I asked. They both answered the same. They said I don’t know. I thought we were the only people here. Who else could their be? Who else escaped? I didn’t know any of the answers to these questions. Then we saw a body. It was in a space suit too. When it approached us we saw its face. It was the president.
“How did you escape?” He asked.
“My brother was your assistant and before he died he gave us your plans and we got a shuttle and we are trying with all our might to make it, alive.” I said. “We thought your plane went down in a smoke cloud.”
“Thats what I thought but when we crashed everybody but one was okay. We ran to the NASA center and got the biggest shuttle to get out of there.” He said.
“Why did you leave all those people to die? Just because your are the president that does not mean they are any lesser than you. So why should they have to parish?” I asked and I thought I had every right to.
“It wasn’t a decision I took lightly but you have to understand that I couldn’t save them all.” He said.
“But they had a right to know. They could have had time. Time to do what is right and...” I paused and didn’t say anything else.
“How did you make it this far?” He asked us.
“It wasn’t easy but all I needed was determination and the help of Mike and Lisa.”
“Your strength and ability to succeeded is amazing.” He said.
“We stopped because we are almost out of fuel and we needed to map out our next move.” Mike said. “If we put our fuel together then we might be able to make it to the planet with out our engines failing.”
“We are almost down to a half a tank so I think that is a good idea.” The presidents pilot said. Then we took our fuel and added it to theirs. We didn’t say much when we were in the shuttle. The silence was weird. I swear you could have head a needle drop. Then the silence broke when the president asked Lisa something.
“How far along are you?” The president asked Lisa. The president always had an weird look. He had bushy hair and a southern accent. He had freckles and always sat with his legs crossed.
“Eight months.” Lisa said while smiling and looking at her stomach.
“Well this is perfect timing then.” The president said in a sarcastic voice.
The space shuttle was amazing. It had seat up the sides and all these futuristic items. There were thinks like dry milk and other foods that only needed water to make.
I never thought I would see the inside of a space shuttle, or a child and young women die, or the Earth explode. I had never thought any of this was going to happen but it did and their is no turning back.
“I think we are taking in water?” The president said.
“From where?” A man beside him asked and I didn’t know the answer because we are on a shuttle with no water.
“Zak.” Lisa said with a pain in her voice.
“Yes honey.” I said.
“My water just broke.” She said standing up.
“Oh my god!” I said while standing up. “Someone grab some towels.”
“Calm down.” She said and I couldn’t imagine how she could be so calm because I was freaking out.
“Does anyone know how to deliver a baby?” I asked and then one of the presidents body guards stood up.
“I delivered my child and I was a baby deliverer a few years back.” He said grabbing towels and helping Lisa to the ground so he can help her deliver the baby.
It seemed like it took forever but when she was born I was in love. Molly has curly red hair. She had very distinctive eyes. They were a dark blue that almost looked black.
She was so tiny I thought I was going to drop her. When I asked Lisa if she wanted to hold her she wasn’t conscious.
“Lisa. Lisa! Lisa come on you can’t quit on me.” I started to do CPR but it was no use. She was already gone. A tear dropped from my face. Thomas and now Lisa. Who else do I have to lose.

CHAPTER 6

Molly wont stop crying. She misses her mother. My wife if gone. She will never get to hold her baby. I have to get to that planet for Molly and for Lisa. I have to.
“We are almost there.” The presidents pilot said.
“Great lets start getting our space suits on because we don’t know how much gravity is on this planet.” The president said.
“I think you would have been smart enough to explore it first.” I said in a very snotty attitude. “Someone will have to stay here with Molly until we find out if its safe.”
“I will.” Mike said while taking her out of my hands. He sat her down on the blanket on the floor and began to play peekaboo. She is so tiny, so fragile. If I lost her I don’t know what I would do. Stop! I can’t think negative. I will make it. She will make it. We have to. We will.
When we stepped out of the shuttle I was amazed with the plants. They all had exotic colors and hues. The ground had red sand and when we looked up it was red. I walked around for what seemed like hour. There was grass and plants everywhere. Their was not many walk ways but we would have to do.
“We need to know if we can breath with out oxygen because we running too low.” One of the Presidents body guards said.
“Ill do it.” I said. “I will.”
“Are you sure?” The same guy asked me.
“No but I have to.” I said. I took off my space suit. I didn’t breath until I had everything. I thought of Molly and the life she might have and I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, terrified that I might die but I didn’t. I took another breath and gave a sigh of relief. I went to go and get Molly. She has bright blue eyes and they glistened when we took her off the shuttle. When I saw her first smile, thats when I knew that she was the reason that I’m still alive. That I am still fighting. That we are still fighting.
