The walnut-tree had given shell and fruit.
Sparrows and cat tasted the cold.
We smelled the snow about to fall.
It's winter now, said mom, and locked the shutters.
Candles were lit. We gathered near the oven.
Enjoyed our apple with candy and vanilla cream.
Whispered and shivered and listened.
The wild chase howled and yelled and rattled.
And mom's hot chocolate was delicious.
When tales were told and dancing winds
Blew up the fire, we tiptoed through the dark.
Mom's bed was warm and cosy.
The snow fell down and we asleep.
Now, years have passed. Mom passed away.
There is no wedding of the snowman, any more.
And no hot chocolate near the oven left.
Mom earth is warming up and I am freezing.
