No One Else

Sara and Ross are having a baby. Right Now! This very minute!

Ross holds Sara’s hand, kisses her forehead and say’ "This is it Sweetheart, you can do it."

The doctor says, "You have a baby girl."

The nurses all say, "Oh how cute," as the tiny baby makes her first little noise.

No one sees the tiny yellow light floating in the corner of the room. No one sees the tiny smile or the tiny hand wipe a tear from a tiny cheek.

Sara and Ross cuddle their little girl. She is wrapped in a pink blanket with only her chubby cheek and her little fist sticking out.

"What shall we name her, Daddy?" Sara asks.

"I think we should call her Kaylee Rose, Mommy," Ross answers.

"I love it!" Sara says with a smile. "How did you think of it?"

"I don’t know" he said, "It just came to me."

Ross doesn’t notice the flutter of wings or the little voice that whispers in his ear.

As Kaylee Rose grows, she giggles and reaches into the air.

No one else sees the tiny fingers tickling or hears the tiny voice singing.

When Kaylee Rose is two, she runs and jumps, squealing and laughing as she goes.

No one else sees the butterfly wings and laughing face floating along beside her.

When Kaylee Rose is five, she happily dances in the garden to no music at all.

No one else hears the tiny flute playing a sweet little tune.

When Kaylee Rose is ten, she sits in her room and whispers secrets to her stuffed animals.

No one else sees the tiny one sitting on top of Teddy’s head.

When Kaylee Rose is fifteen, she cries into her pillow over how stupid Billy Jones can be.

No one else feels the tender little hand stocking her hair of sees the drooping wings and sad little face.

When Kaylee Rose is twenty, she walks down the isle all dressed in white, soon to be Billy Jones’s wife.

No one else sees the proud smile among the beautiful flowers.

Kaylee Rose and Billy are having a baby. Right Now! This very minute!

No one notices the flutter of new wings in the corner of the room.
