Chapter One

She didn't know what she was going to do, but she knew she had to do something now. She was about to lose her sisters to the social service in Denver, Colorado just because she's not married. I can't lose them! She thoughtWhat is she supposed to do, she didn't even have a boyfriend. She was the kind of woman that repels men how was she going to find a man. She walked out of the hotel to meet with the man who has her sisters’ case. She bumped into a tall man.

"Sorry," she said but kept on walking.

"Wait, miss," the man tried to stop her, but she couldn't stop.

She jumped into her car and drove off. She was used to driving in Dallas, Texas, but the traffic in Denver was nothing like Dallas. She made it to the social service office in an hour, which is twice as long as it would have in Dallas. She runs into find the cops about to take Christina and Melissa to a foster house. She looked at her beautiful sisters with tears in her eyes. Chris had long curly dark brown hair and blue gray eyes that light up when she saw her older sister Scarlett standing in the doorway. Mel had short wavy light brown hair and stormy gray eyes that wouldn't leave Scarlett.

"Scarlett!" Chris and Mel shouted at the same time.

They ran so fast toward her she had no time to brace herself. They all feel onto the cold stone floor with a lot of giggling. Scarlett looked up to found the social service worker looking down on them. She helped her sisters up off the floor.

"Please, Mr. Coleman. If you just give me a little more time I will find someone. I'm begging don't take my sisters away from me," she begged.

"I'm sorry Ms. Webb, but I can't do anything else. I've already made my bosses angry by not putting them in a foster home sooner. Your deadline to find a husband was today and since you still don't have one then they are to go to the foster home." Mr. Coleman started to turn around but was stopped by a voice coming from behind Scarlett.

"My name is Carter Freeman and I would be willing to marry Ms. Webb."

Scarlett turned around to find the man she bumped into while leaving the hotel. He was tall, lean, and muscular. He had short wavy black hair that curled at the nape of his neck and piercing green eyes that rendered her speechless. He was wearing faded blue jeans with a belt holding them up at his lean waist and an old western shirt. He was holding a black Stetson to his chest.
