Angela sat, perched on a tree engrossed in her book. Maybe a little too much as she didn’t notice the angel approaching her.
“Angela!” She jumped almost falling off the tree before she caught herself though her book was caught by another.
“Mariel! I told you to not sneak up on me like that, how did you find me anyway?” I sighed at my best friend who gave me a grin.
“Easy, ‘the angel with beautiful wings and eyes is reading at the park again.” Mariel imitated a man’s voice making me laugh. “Guess I’m really that noticeable huh.” I sighed feeling sadness come over me.
“You really are but be happy.” Mariel pulled me into a hug making me fall off the branch. “Mariel!” I spread my wings before flying next to her. Trees in heaven were very tall.
“You know I hate it when you do that.” I scowled before sighing after a few seconds. I’m never able to be angry for long. A very satisfying trait for an angel, Gabriel had said.
“Oh come on you have beautiful wings, you’ve got to flaunt it.” To make her point clear she spread her light violet wings before bringing them in dropping down towards the ground. I sighed before following her actions spreading it as I got closer for a light landing breathing out in contempt. Having my wings out, flying was a beautiful feeling.
Seeing other angels walk by staring at my wings I instantly refolded them.
“Better?” I stared into Mariel’s violet eyes that matched her wings the wind blowing her brown locks reluctantly nodding. Mariel never did anything without a reason, no matter how annoying she seemed. It’s been a while since I spread my wings and they were getting a little cramped.
I though she wouldn’t notice but she did. Perks of being a descendant of the angel of Mysteries- they can see what an ordinary angel can’t and put everything together even if it seemed like it wouldn’t. It’s why most investigate demon activities and any supernatural attacks or threats.
“I want my book back now.” I held out my hand expectedly while she rolled her eyes handing it back. “I don’t get why you read those mortal books anyway heck even the mysteries are boring, most anyway.” I gave her a smile hugging my current book.
“Their interesting, it reflects people’s hopes dreams and personalities they may try to keep hidden, besides I pretty much read everything in the library.” I gave her a sheepish grin.
“Unbelievable, six hundred year’s old and the only thing exciting about your life are your eyes and wings.” I rolled my eyes sighing, “You’ve said that every one hundred years or so Mariel and it still won’t change a thing.”
Mariel gave me the look. “Not if I have anything to do about it.” I simply ignored her trying to find my lost page. After all these year- which has been a lot- I still never put a charm on the books to find the place I lost.
‘Brothers, sister please report to the Coliseums thank you.’
Book forgotten I turned towards Mariel in shock. “Why would they have a meeting in the coliseums, we haven’t had one in 400 years?” Mariel shrugged. “Beat’s me but let’s go.” She spread her wing before taking flight.
“Let’s hope this isn’t anything bad.” I spread my wings and took flight clutching my book.
Reaching the coliseum I spotted Mariel and quickly landed folding my wings before taking a seat next to her.
The coliseums were like the one on Earth but in more than perfect condition many of them floating, each representing the different levels of heaven. Glistening marble glittering in the sun surrounding only one that’s made of gold where angels of high rankings sat. Not to mention the seven Arch angels and the throne made of diamonds in the middle of it all.
He rarely made an appearance but it’s said if you pray to the throne and the crystal cross behind it your wishes will reach him. It’s very rare to have every angel from every level of heaven at a meeting and the coliseums are the only way to fit them all. And meeting in the coliseums means one thing, they would be there.
Colors from white, blue, pink green and many more ranged based on every angel’s wings. I was the only one whose wings were two colored- other than one other. He who shall not be named.
Soon everyone arrived and sat waiting. The wait was over when a flash of light came and seven figured appeared. Everyone stared in aww as they gracefully landed around the throne before seven smaller thrones appeared and they sat.
Gabriel, Michael, Raphael, Uriel, Raguel, Remiel and Saraqael. The archangels.
Michael stood addressing the silent angels. “My dear brothers and sister.” I could have fainted from his voice.
“I’m honored you could all could be here.” No one would have missed this for the world- actually they might have considering the Earth is our responsibility. “However we are in a dire situation.” That snapped me out of it.
“Lucifer.” Another enchanting voice spoke. Gabriel. “Lucifer seems to be getting more reckless, the darkness that fill him is getting out of control, thus it is affecting hell, it begins to effect Earth and soon it will affect us.”
“Does that mea-“
“Yes the Balance is tipping.” Raphael spoke. “But can’t our Lord do anything?” Another angel spoke.
“No, Lucifer’s essence is already seeping into Earth if the Lord comes leaves his sanctuary it will effect everywhere and everyone. The Earth could only take much celestial power.” Which is probably why Lucifer is doing it, he knows that the effects will be negative either way.
“Then what is our plan of action, we can’t let this go on sooner or later Lucifer will get into heaven!” Many murmurs of agreement followed before they were silenced.
“I am afraid to say-“ Michael began “-That it’s already begun.”
“I can’t believe this! If this continues Lucifer will get into heaven and all they have to say is ‘be careful brothers and sisters and never travel alone.’ Unbelievable!” Angela sighed at her ranting knowing her attention was elsewhere closed her book.
“You know why, the barrier surrounding Heaven is wavering and it’s causing portals to open portals at times, who knows where it will lead.” Angela shivered at the thought of being thrown into an unknown location.
Mariel sighed “I guess but what are they going to do about this?” I wonder the same thing. “Who knows but I’m sure the Lord will give them guidance.” Angela sighed spreading her wings. “For now I just want to go home and relax.” For I cannot sleep, angels have no need to sleep or any human needs.
I felt my wings falter making me gasp before I felt myself being pulled upwards into something hot. I looked up and screamed at the red glowing looking tear in the sky that I was heading straight for. This heat is unmistakable, it’s a portal to hell. But that’s not possible, there is no direct portal that leads from heaven to hell!
“Angela!” I heard Mariel call out to me I turned around outstretching my hand towards hers as she did the same trying to get a grip to pull me away from this hot vacuum.
I felt my hand brushed hers before I was pulled in.
I gasped at the feeling of the hot atmosphere feeling my wings get weak along with my powers. I shivered at the amount of Evil I felt compared to the good in heaven.
I reached longingly at the portal before I fell feeling the heat increase making me scream.
I missed the connection pulsing through me but someone else surely didn’t.
Lucifer’s eyes snapped open from his slumber of gathering the pain and misery around him for power. That connection.
Lucifer growled teleporting outside spreading his black tipped red wings taking off to the sky. The pure white sky blue tipped wings made him whisper one thing.
“Beautiful.”
Lucifer felt himself recoil in disgust as a familiar pure aura approached before he spotted pure white wide wings enveloping the girl. But not before he made eye contact of the pure blue eyes of the Archangel Gabriel before they head towards the portal.
He caught gold locks flowing before golden eyes met his gaze just as they disappeared through the portal which closed at their departure.
“Well well.” Lucifer smirked evilly.
“My own little angel.”
Mariel stared down at her pale friend.
“Is she alright?” She turned towards Gabriel who held his index finger to her temple, getting rid of any evil that stuck to her during her time in hell. “She is well, I’m just afraid of what follows.”
Mariel gulped trying her best to look clueless. “What do you mean by that?” Gabriel sighed turning towards her blue eyes capturing her.
“We know you know Mariel, it is hard not to considering the amount of time you spend with her.” Gabriel spoke calmly while Mariel stared anywhere and everywhere. “It’s true Angela is not my descendent, she is Lucifer’s. The very first and the very last before he fell.” Gabriel gently grabbed her chin bringing her violet eyes to meet his blue ones that seemed far away.
“I don’t know why Lucifer decided then to make a kin but, my guess is that she was his backup plan to gain entrance and take over heaven. He must have forgotten her over the years but now he’s gotten a glimpse of her and I fear she is in danger.” Gabriel sighed letting her chin go before walking around to the other side of the bed where Angela lay.
“The bond between its maker and kin. We had kept her asleep for more than thousands of years when Lucifer had fallen as precaution in order to let it fade. We knew if we let her go on she would have turned against us and aid Lucifer in his conquest for heaven, they bonded- greatly in their short time.” Mariel stared at him in shock. “Angela existed even before Lucifer fell?” She’s more than hundreds of years old, she’s centuries old!
That explains so much, how could Lucifer birth Angela when he wasn’t in heaven? “Yes.” Gabriel looked at her in amusement before he became serious. “And now their bond is reforming. Our Lord tried to fill the gap and bonded her to me when we awoke her and bound her powers.”
“B-b-bound powers” Mariel stuttered. Gabriel accessed her in understanding. “You should sit down angel Mariel.” A plush white chair appeared out of thin air behind her and she sat down on her sighing. “I know this is so much to take Mariel but it needs to be said. Demons are entering at any chance they get when a portal opens somewhere in heaven. Now they are searching for her. You are with her most of the time so I need you to help protect her.” Mariel stood shocked.
“B-b-but archangel Gabriel shouldn’t we tell her and she can protect herself if you unbound her powers. Gabriel’s eyes seemed to have lost its warmth as it went blank. Mariel gasped and kneeled in submission spreading her wings trying not to shiver at her venerability.
The true form of archangels, emotionless only going by logic or task given by the Lord. They can never stray from their orders, it’s what made the archangels, archangels. He could tear her wings from her back right then if she seemed threatening towards whatever he is protecting or he was ordered to do.
“I’m afraid we cannot unbound her powers.” Emotion seemed to seep into him again as he sighed. “Keep an eye on her and take care angel Mariel, I will send another of my trusted angels to help watch over her.” With that he disappeared making Mariel rise sigh in relief before her eyes went towards the peaceful looking Angela.
“What are we going to do Angie?”
“Well we can start on making sure she’s not suspicious and keep her away from most of the areas where portals are opening.” Mariel jumped at the male voice looking behind her.
An angel with dirty blond hair with light chocolate eyes and forest green wings. An angel with different eye color than his wings, he must be an Archangel’s direct descendent and the one Gabriel sent. It’s why everyone though Angela to be so rare, different eyes and different wings. It now all makes sense.
“Leveon at your service.” He gave me a bow before a smirk made way to his lips his eyes twinkling with Mischief. Leveon- suits his look and attitude. Mariel’s eyes narrowed unto him.
Leveon’s gaze went towards Angela. “So this is Lucifer’s angel.”
“How do you-“
“Mariel?” Angela’s light voice cut her off. “Oh Angie.” Mariel ran to her friend and gave her a hug.
“Wings careful with the wings.” Angela winced while Mariel pulled back. “Sorry.”
Angela gasped as everything came back to her. Amber eyes that seem they could burn your soul with one look. It felt familiar yet not so familiar.
And those wings….
“Mariel I think I saw-“ Green pair of wings caught her attention before she met chocolate eyes. “Who are you?”
He simply smirked. “Think of me as your guardian angel.”
Angela only stared at the angel in front of her blankly. “Who is he?” She turned towards Mariel who bit her lip complementing on telling her everything, but one look at Leveon’s stern face make her think otherwise.
“It’s what he says Angie, he’s your guardian angel. Since you were present in hell they don’t really know how it will affect you now you are back in heaven. He’s here to watch you and make sure no demon gets near you since they might increase any evil that stuck to you during that time.” Mariel lied feeling guilt and acceptance. Acceptance that only came when one does the Lord will when sinning. It sickened her.
Angela studied her friend before putting a small smile on her face. “I guess, I apologize for being rude angel….”
“Leveon my lady.” He gave her a small bow before smirking.
“Now let us go over how things are going to change.” Angela nodded in understanding. “Of course, is Gabriel alright?”
“Of course, he’s an archangel this isn’t his first trip to hell.”
“Well well, you came.” Lucifer smirked opening his eyes showing his amber orb glowing with malice. “Thought you would bail, ah Gabriel and Michael. Two of the strongest archangels, we all know even if you both combine your powers it’s not going to be enough.” Lucifer narrowed his eyes smugly as Michael’s eyes twitched and Gabriel sighed. “We are not here to battle Lucifer, we are here to discuss your kin.”
Both he and Michael sat down opposite of Lucifer, the café rented out precisely for this conversation. Lucifer’s amusement vanished quickly as he placed both his hands on the table leaning in.
“How is my little angel, she seems to be doing well, she seemed sweet, weak” His ambers spike in anger as he spoke the last one making Michal and Gabriel instantly get tense.
“Now Lucifer-“
“-What have you done to her? What have you done to my kin!” Lucifer roared trying not to burn down the café.
“Calm yourself Lucifer it’s too early for this.” Lucifer narrowed his eyes at Michael as he sighed. “Yes we sealed most of her powers and kept her asleep for many centuries, we awakened her six hundred years ago.” Lucifer laughed a mocking laugh.
“So your fear has driven the lord to this, strip an angel of her life and powers only to make her seem like she is just like every angel. Despicable and simply humiliating. And let me guess, no one knows who she really is other than the archangels and a few trusted few. You may not want to admit but your lord is much like me in many-“
Michael slammed his fist on the table cutting him off. “Never compare our Lord to a scum like you.” He growled his eyes going blank. Lucifer laughed as he stared down at him. “Do you expect me to bow down to you and beg for forgiveness like the other angels? You have better chances with your Lord. ” Lucifer snickered before his face hardened.
“Now when can I have her by my side?” The two angels shifted.
“I am sorry but we cannot.” Gabriel spoke and stood along with Michael as Lucifer shot up. “What do you me you cannot?” He asked in a deadly tone. Both archangels tensed reaching to their power as Lucifer’s anger rose.
“We will not let her go. She is an angel of the Lord, we will not let someone as Valuable as she to fall just for an abomination such as yourself.” Michael sneered. Calmness be damned.
“She is mine!” Lucifer growled in anger the café trembling a little. “You cannot keep us apart, it is against your holy laws.” Lucifer sneered.
“In this case we have no choice.” Gabriel said gravely. Lucifer froze before he laughed. Cold hard laughter. Both Archangels shivered.
The devil hardly laughed and when he did……
“So that is your reason.” Lucifer chuckled. “You’re afraid.” A cold malicious smile graced his lips.
“Of course we are, your relationship with that girl! It was not normal as one between its kin and maker. Every day she was becoming more and more like you, she worshipped you as we do our Lord.” Michael sighed.
Lucifer snickered. “Are you sure it isn’t a problem because she is powerful, powerful enough to almost rival an Archangel?”
“I don’t know how you did it but she was and the bond between you two was like anything I have seen.” Lucifer sighed before his wings appeared spread large and wide.
“You may try as you may but I will get her, even if I don’t soon enough she will come to me. I can feel our bond returning, it’s only a matter of time before she receives her memory back. As long as it may take, we all know I have all the time in the world.” With that his eyes turned red and he disappeared in a puff of smoke.
“But I am impatient so take her I will.” Lucifer’s laugh echoed through the café before the Archangels teleported out.
Angela snapped out of her daydream and looked down at the book she was supposed to be reading.
Those eyes, the fallen archangel Lucifer.
Why do they feel so familiar?
Mariel sighed sprawled out on the couch in the library watching her best angel friend read. “I bet you’re enjoying this aren’t you.” Mariel grumbled, making Angela look up from her book, and stare, at her friend in amusement.
“What do you mean?” Mariel rolled her eyes, sitting upright. “You’ve barely been out of the library since your last trip in hell, and were told you were restricted to most parts in heaven, and I can’t exactly leave you alone. You’re enjoying this, but I’m bored.” Mariel complained, before a mischievous grin came on her face.
“I know that look, it’s the look you get when you try to get me to have ‘fun’” Angela quoted fun staring at her friend warily.
“Don’t say it like it’s a bad thing, I’m the only one here to spice up your life which is boring, even for an angel.” Mariel giggled and Angela sighed. She knew once her friend set her mind to it, she won’t let go no matter how many times she told her-
I’m perfectly content with my life.
It’s always-
Yeah Yeah.
“So what’s on your mind this time?” She asked her friend hoping, she won’t think of anything too reckless. “Well it’s been a while since we flew out in clear air, and I heard the park is available along with your favorite flower….. Which grows unpredictably every three years.”
Angela frowned at her friend. “Mariel you know the park is one of the places Leveon told me not to approach.” Mariel felt irritation go through her at the angel’s name. “He’s not here now, is he?”
Angela sighed knowing it was useless. “Alright only for your sake.” She stood flexing her wings oblivious of her friend watching in awe at the gracefulness she always had, and always though she lacked. ‘Yes everything makes sense.’
“Well?” Angela’s voice snapped her out of her reverie. “Oh right come on.” She grabbed Angela’s hand dragging her towards the window.
“Why, must we fly there?” Angela groaned “Because it’s faster, and good for you.” With that she was pushed out the window.
A good thing most building in heaven were high places, she had just enough time to spread her wings and take off midair. “Come on.” Her friend grabbed her hand and dragged her in the air towards the park.
She shivered as they arrived at the park, the tall trees standing tall and proud. But something felt, wrong. It was eerie and quiet, no one was there.
“Mariel where is everyone?” She asked her friend tensely. “Oh they’ve all been keeping inside considering the demon sightings.” Angela gasped stopping midflight pulling her friend back. “Mariel!”
“What? Their all just being paranoid, there’s nothing to worry about so come on.” Mariel pulled her along towards a clearing full of pure crystal flowers swaying in the wind.
“Mariel, they are not being paranoid, if none of the angels are here to see the crystal flowers bloom, this is worse than we thought!” Angela tried to make her friend see sense.
“Oh stop being such a-“She gasped her eyes widening in shock. Angela stared at her friend alarmed. “Mariel?”
“Run.” Mariel rasped before she began falling her hand slipping from Angela’s. “Mariel!” She screamed trying to catch up to her and grab her. It was then she saw it, the dagger right between her shoulder blades, her wings.
Catching her bridal style Angela called on the unnatural strength she possesses bringing her friend down unto the clearing, safely. “Oh Mariel.” Angela sobbed starring at the blood on her hand, the hand that held her friends back.
“Angels are so emotional.” A voice spoke making Angela’s attention snap to a dark figure. “Who are you?” She asked softly although she already knew.
Sharpened teeth glinted reflecting off the crystal flowers. “Doesn’t matter, all you need to know is that you’re my one way ticket to become a powerful demon.” His figure disappeared, catching Angela off guard.
She looked around trying to sense him, bringing in her wings protectively. She turned and faced the setting sun which made the clearing of crystal flowers reflect the colors. It was beautiful.
“Such a good night.” Angela gasped at the sharp pain behind her head before the lights went out.
‘No, it is not a good night, demon.’
A portal opened making both figures disappear from Mariel’s blurry sights. ‘What have I done?’
“What have you done?!”
Mariel looks down at her hand, trying to hold back her tears.
“I- I’m so sorry.”
“I know you are.” Leveon laughed a bitter laugh. “But that doesn’t help the fact that Angela is in Lucifer’s clutches does it?” Mariel couldn’t the sob that escaped her anymore, her wings lay, looking dead behind her, most of it bandaged beginning from her back.
“Please we have to get her back.”
Leveon growled in anger. “There is no we, you’ve done enough. I have to report this to the archangels, if they haven’t found out already. You stay and await your punishment for defying an archangel’s orders.”
Angela gasped springing upwards catching her breath, trying to ignore the pain pounding her skull.
The first thing she notices, it was hot.
The second, she felt weak, so weak.
The last, the black red tipped winged angel standing at the door way.
He took a deep breath. “Hello my Angela.”
The Archangels were currently in disarray as they tried to find a way to fix the situation they were in. Laveon simply stood to the side and watched his masters at work, although with not much results.
"We need a full scale attack to distract Lucifer in order to get Angela back!" Archangel Gabriel demanded, his fist slammed the table silencing all previous arguments.
"You are not thinking clearly at the moment brother, you feelings towards that girl are clouding your judgement. If you would turn yourself off you would see what the most logical action to this would be. As I have been saying for the past hour." Uriel stated as she stood from her seat. "This meeting has been taking us nowhere, we either need some time to process or turn off in order to come to a logical solution. This goes especially for you." She sent a hard look towards Gabriel and Micheal before vanishing.
The rest of the archangels glanced at each other before following in suit leaving only Micheal, Gabriel and Laveon.
Gabriel took a deep breath before sitting back flexing his wings in irritation. "They don't know what their talking about, the more time we waste the greater the risk of....."
"I know brother" Michael answered.
"You didn't see Lucifer Laveon, how frantic and angry he looked, we could feel it roll off of him in waves. Not only are we in danger, Angela is in the greatest danger of all. To be consumed by him all over again." Gabriel whispered before glancing at his kin.
Laveon had no reaction and only stared. As one of Gabriel's first and closest he had adopted the behavior of archangels and did his best to fit in; he had been taught by Gabriel himself. This was both helpful and unhelpful in different situations, like now.
"The angel who created this mess is in holding waiting to be judged, since your brothers and sisters took their leave you are the only ones left to do it." Laveon reminded them of their next responsibility for the day.
"Very well, though we cannot be too hard on her, I have a feeling she will play a big part in what is to come.” Gabriel sighed before also vanishing into the courtroom.
Mariel kneeled before the court her body sagged in defeat. Her wings motionless and still in recovery.
“Angel Mariel, rise” Gabriel commanded. Mariel did as she was told holding back tears of helplessness. I’m so sorry Angela…
“....Although not knowing the gravity of the consequences you still broke the rules and put you fellow angel in grave danger. For you sin you shall be stripped from flight and your angel attributes becoming near mortal until Angela returns to heaven.” Gabriel paused looking down from his platform. “Do you understand?”
Mariel nodded “Yes Archangel.” Why did it have to be like this?
Gabriel turned to Michael. “Brother you shall be the one to oversee this trial, do you see this punishment it for the sin?”
Michael nodded “Very well so brother.”
A faint bell, similar to those of the human churches when noon strikes rang, One my power, Two my wings, Three I feel so weak, times as Mariel became a near mortal. The ethereal beauty associated with angels visibly dulled, her aura was weakened with no celestial power and her wings faded, still there but almost like air, invisible and unusable.
Angela
Angela
ANGELA
Gasping for air Angela sprung up before crying out in unexpected pain. Touching the back of her head she felt a bump and a slight cut.
Remembering what happened and noticing the unknown landscape she immediately put up her guard. She felt heavier, like something was weighing her down and like she was being suffocated by how it was. This feels familiar.
Looking up she groaned when she saw the sky was red. Lord I know you said not to use your name in vain, but oh my God the demon succeeded, she was in hell and there was no archangel to save her this time.
But where was the demon? Where is she specifically? The heat isn’t as unbearable as the last time, so that’s good. I don’t want to wander around, who knows what I’ll find…..
She looked around the clearing. But I’m too much in the open.
“Marlin you owe me one hundred years worth of books” Angela grumbled as she made her way into the forest. She had to get out fast, she’s getting weaker by the minute.
Eyes peered from the other side of the clearing, the dead demon beside it as it licked it’s lips. “Demon for dinner, angel for dessert, my lucky day in hell.”
Lucifer peered into his mirror watching landscapes, and the demons and souls accompanying them pass by. “I sensed her presence, I still do, though it’s getting weaker.”
She’s here, but not by my side, I explicitly told those scouts to bring her here when she was found, why is it taking so long. If I don’t get her into her quarters she can die down here.
A flash of gold, white and blue caught his attention. He froze the image. She was in the dark forest and noticeably losing her shine as her power grew weaker, she grew paler as she leaned against a tree. Lucifer narrowed his eyes noticing a shadow following close behind her. He growled when he observed the eyes, red and like a cat ready to pounce on its prey; his Angel.
“Dammit, a wraith, can no one do their jobs around here?” He shed is shirt and spread his wings soaring to the forest to save her soul.
“I barely got you back, can’t let you die now can I?”
Angela
Angela
ANGELA
Not again
Angela’s eyes snapped open to meet a black marble ceiling. In fact looking around, the whole room was made of black marble.
“What the heck happened?” She thought out loud, the last thing she remembered was a shadow launching towards her as she struggled to stand and black tipped wings.
“This tops any bad day she’s had since she was born” Angela stated towards the ceiling before she found it in her to sit up. Looking down she saw she was in a loose black night gown that greatly contrasted against her skin. The thought of someone changing her while she was unconscious makes her shiver.
Lucifer watched Angela curiously from the shadows, namely at her wings. “It’s been so long since I’ve seen those wings, they almost remind me of my old days.”
Angela’s attention immediately narrowed on him and her hands started glowing a white hue aimed at him, a sign she was ready to attack. Lucifer watched her in amusement and took a step towards her.
“Stay back.” Angela warned her hands glowing brighter. “Identify yourself, and tell me where I am.”
Lucifer stopped with a mocked hurt look on his face “Angie, you don’t even remotely remember me? It’s Lucifer your favorite, you’re in my palace in hell, in the only room capable of keeping you alive and away from hell’s light killing properties.”
Angela hesitated trying to look pass his facade. “You are telling the truth….” Lucifer smiled and took another step which instantly brought Angela’s guard back up. “Still stay back Lucifer, am I supposed to thank you for keeping me from dying in the very place one of your minions brought me? And why would I even remember you?” Angela demanded calmly as she tried to process this information and find her way out of this situation.
“Well, it’s a long story and I don’t really feel like explaining it since in your state you won’t believe it. However I will say that if you stop and look within you for one second, you will feel it, the bond between us and I hope that will warm you up towards me.” Lucifer sighed as he walked towards the bed and sat down under Angela’s heavy gaze.
“Imagine that, the devil too lazy to lie about one thing yet conjuring up the biggest one right after. What am I here for and when can I leave?” Angela demanded.
Lucifer didn’t answer and gave her a blank stare. “Oh Angie, those angels really did a number on you huh, don’t worry things will go back to the way they should be, heck they’ll be bet-”
A light beam hit the bed inches away from Lucifer “Stop talking to me like were close friends!” Angela spoke in anger, she caught herself and calmed down a bit. “I don’t know you, never did, I would never befriend an abomination such as yourself. Now how can I get out of Hell? I won’t miss next time…”
Lucifer’s eyes darkened to pure black before a lightning like sound pierced the silence.
Angel cried out in pain as she felt heat engulf her and her light beams disappeared as she felt weak, so weak like her very soul was being fed on. She dropped to her knees her wings spread in pain as she tried to keep out the heat. Hot, so hot.. Make it Stop!
“If you haven’t figured it out by now, you are not leaving Hell, much less this room unless you want to feel exactly as you are now and die.” Lucifer walked towards Angela’s curled form and grasped her face harshly.
“I know you don’t remember anything, but I will not allow you to trample on our history together, those angels will not ruin more than they have already.” Lucifer released her and watched as she curled back up in pain with a black look on her face.
“I think you’ve been punished enough.” The crack resounded as any previous feeling disappeared and Angela was left gasping for air, for life.
“Now, these are your what do as you wish just don’t go anywhere else, we both wouldn’t like the results of that. It’s too soon to have any conversation about our past now with you… amnesia.” Lucifer’s golden eyes returned. “I will let the bond reform and we’ll see whether or not it will get your memories going, if not it doesn’t matter much. I have a feeling you’ll be much more pleasant with the bond re-established either way...We can always make new memories.” It didn’t seem like he was talking to Angela anymore.
“Well” Lucifer clapped his hands causing Angela to jump in fear. “It’s been fun but I have work to do, king of hell and all, plotting to invade heaven, the usual.” His wings unfolded and revealed themselves, the polar opposite of Angela’s. “I will see you in a week Angie, behave yourself, I will always be nearby.”
With that he flew towards the black marble ceiling and went right through. Angela’s eyes widened as she frantically tried to find the strength to fly after him. “It’s no use all my energy is gone… he couldn’t have been stupid enough to just show me the way out anyway-”
“If you haven’t figured it out by now, you are not leaving hell, much less this room unless you want to feel exactly as you are now and die.”
“Right, almost forgot that piece of information, I really can’t go anywhere.” Angela brought her feet into her chest and curled her wings around her trying to hold back her tears.
Mariel...Gabriel….any angel, please help.
Lucifer roared in anger as a pillar of flames destroyed everything in its path around him.
Those bastards, to put him in this position to hurt and imprison his own kin just for her to look at him like she used to…. They will pay for this, it is only a matter of when.
Lucifer took deep breaths and calmed himself the pillar of flames vanishing.
“My lord” His fireproof demon assistant called to attention. “What are your plans for the angel” He said the word with such distain that made Lucifer give him a hard look. “Careful Beezlebub, that’s my kin you speak of”
“Apologies sire” The red head bowed. Lucifer sighed as they both looked through the window at the marble cube which hovered right over the throne room.
“Well, we’ll start with the bond to rid of the animosity she has for me, that’s the easy part… the hard one will be getting her memories back, if not, well… I’ll have to find a way to make her fall and stand by my side once again.” Lucifer sat on his Throne of Sin.
“We’ll have to see what happens a week from now.”
The existence of Angela came as a surprise to even the creator himself.
For centuries Lucifer had gone without creating an angel as his fellow archangels have done. In fact he outright refused and looked down on his siblings who created angels for the most trivial things. My who’s going to watch over this field of sheep? Who will greet the other angels? Who will run errands? Pathetic He thought.
Though if they knew the true reason why he created Angela, it would be deemed unfitting for an archangel. His desire for companionship and a worshipper. Maybe that’s why things turned out the way they did.
An angel not created by the creator himself was strong enough to rival an archangel when not in their true forms. An angel with the same wings as his, the ones that were considered one of a kind. She looked so similar to him yet their attitudes were totally different.
There was one thing that was noticeable. They were almost never apart and if they were they were never far from each other. It was, curious.
“Gabriel” Sensing his Aura Angela looked up from the book she was reading up in the tree. “What a surprise, what brings you here today?”
Gabriel looked up at her from the base of the tree and tried not to lose track of his thoughts. “I just wanted to stop by and check up.”
Angela stared down at him from her spot, the sun behind her giving her golden hair and an ethereal glow that made Gabriel gulp. “Lucifer isn’t here he’s out on earth today I’m afraid.”
‘I know, that’s exactly why I came by.’ Gabriel put a smile on his face. “Oh, well that’s unfortunate, would you mind if I flew around with you and waited for him?”
Angela hmed. “You can just leave a message for him with me you know, we both know he trusts me more than the average angel.”
‘Come on Gabriel, as the humans say- balls.’ “Come on Angel” Gabriel flew up to her and grabbed her book. “Why don’t we go entertain ourselves?”
Angela looked from her empty hands to her book in his hands. “I was entertaining myself…”
“How about some sparring? It’s been awhile since I’ve given you a run for your wings.” Angela gave him a bemused glance.
“You mean like the last time I had your wings clipped like a bird?” Gabriel tried not to scowl at her tease.
“You caught me off guard, no one ever expected you to be that strong, I’m more prepared now- don’t you want to see how it turns out. Or are you afraid?” Gabriel dangled the challenge in front of her and smirked when he saw her eyes light up with fierce competitive spirit.
“As you wish Archangel.” At that Gabriel flew towards the arena and heard Angela following closely.
That day heaven shook and a storm rained down on earth. It was a tie, until Gabriel turned into his archangel form and pinned Angela down in a crater by the neck. “I win Angel.” He stared down at her.
“We both know why you won just now.” Angela stated breathing hard and didn’t cower from Gabriel’s cold form as most angels did when archangels were like this. “Now why don’t you turn back before someone gets hurt?” Angela reached up towards his own neck and watched his face morph to a cold smile as he gripped tighter.
Angela’s eyes narrowed at him before she lowered her hand and broke the eye contact. “Apologies Archangel, I stepped out of line.” It was a pregnant minute before Gabriel let her go and ran his hand through his hair.
“My mistake, I should have finished this fight fair and square.”
“True, but who am I to tell you to lower yourself to my level. You won based on your abilities nothing more.” Angela stood and froze when she met the golden gaze.
“Lucifer, you’ve returned.” Why do I feel like I’ve done something wrong?
He didn’t answer and simply moved his gaze to his brother. “Gabriel, I didn’t take you as one to be so reckless. Heaven is currently in shambles and half of earth’s crops are destroyed. What is the meaning of this?”
“Worry not brother, everything will be as it should be by tomorrow.” Gabriel danced around the question. “I will take my leave and make preperations now.” With that he spread his wings and flew away.
Angela watched him leave and realized ‘He never left a message.’
“Angela.” Angela turned towards Lucifer and tried not to act like a child caught doing something she shouldn’t have.
Lucifer stared at her. “Let’s go home.” He said after a while and flew away in the direction of their home.
Angela sighed and flew after him.
Lucifer had a dark look on his face that Angela couldn’t see from behind him. ‘I’ll have to keep those two away from each other.” It was then the angel Lucifer first felt jalousy and a spark of possession towards the angel flying close behind him.
Angela flew with him, not knowing that their relationship was about to morph into something more than companionship and the catalyst to the rebellion was brewing.
Gabriel’s eyes opened and stared at the painting that was usually covered. He reached out and stopped short of touching the blue tipped wings. “Don’t worry Angel, I won’t let history repeat itself again.” His eyes grew cold. “You will die before I let something like that happen again.”
Angela gasped as she snapped awake. She reached up and held her head to stop the pounding headache.
What the-? What was that?
I never had any recollection of this. I think I would have remembered going toe to toe with Archangle Gabriel and that angel- I called him Lucifer… but that’s not possible.
The devil was once an angel
But how would I know him? I was born centuries after his fall so how-?
“No, you’re falling right into his hands Angela. This is a trick he’s playing to toy with your mind.” Like the liar he is.
“I have to give it to him, that felt very realistic.” She reached up to rub her neck and froze when she remembered something.
The book Gabriel took from me was the same one he gave to me on the day of my birth. What was it he said? “This rightfully belongs to you”
