Seven Birds

Have you heard the story, of a country torn by war?  Of a people divided in their morals? They believe that only their side is right and there are only two sides to choose from.  It’s a common tale, often with the ending of the winner erasing the other.  Perhaps the other falls into history’s oblivion, because it's easy to fight an other with blind passion and forget that the other is human too.

 

This country was not much different.  Its people had lost hope in their singular belief.  They clung hollowly to their belief while their hearts doubted.  It was during a period of doubt that this story begins.  The two sides had drawn up an unsteady peace.  Both peoples breathed a small sigh of relief and some began to communicate with each other.  The majority however, still clung to their belief, unwilling to open their minds to see an other. It can be dangerous to think differently. 

 

 

~ First Sighting ~

 

One day a woman was gently strumming her guitar as she stared above her city.  The buildings around her couldn’t block her view of the sky, though they soared as high as they could.  She stared forlornly at the sky, mourning her city’s division even though many of the people on both sides had played together as children.  She watched 7 birds tumble in the sky as her melody lifted into the air. 

A pained scream from below tore through her song. Surprised, she leaned over the window’s edge and saw in front of her home, a group kicking a fallen body.  The woman flew down the stairs with her
