It was a quite night at the cove and everybody was sleeping except little Tommy, he was wide awake reading his favourite book. It was 5.30am and the birds started to sing, it was wasn’t daylight yet because it was in the winter months.
Tommy didn’t attend school because of problems, so he attended home learning studies, the time was now 8.00am and Tommy decided to go for a walk to the cottage shop, he loved to visit to look through the pretty books on the shelf's. As he came out the shop he was greeted by an old man and he gave Tommy a piece of paper Tommy said “what’s this” the old man replied “you will see” so with that Tommy left the cottage shop and returned home.
When he got home the examined the piece of paper it was instructions but what too he thought, the instructions read,
1. Travel north 100 steps
2. Travel East 50 steps
3. Enter at 100 steps
Tommy thought this is so strange so he came outside and started to count the steps 1,2,3 and he continued to follow the instructions until he arrived at an old shipping dock, it was the cove’s shipping bay, Tommy thought “what am I looking for”. Has he looked again at the instructions he turned the paper over and saw a symbol written on it “what’s this”.
The symbol showed a coin “well where do I look now” he thought, he kept looking around to find this symbol and finally he found an old barn with the symbol on it. As he approached the barn it looked very old and dangerous because nobody worked here, he thought to himself so he decided to enter the barn at his own risk, it was fall of old hay stacks, Tommy decided to venture deeper into the barn and found an old trap door in the floor, it was covered with hay and straw.
He opened the hatch to reveal a ladder so he carefully climbed down into a large open area, it was fall of more old hay stacks and chains and boxes plus creates.
He noticed another trap door in the floor and yet again he carefully opened it, yet another ladder but this one had broken steps but Tommy still managed to climb down to the next room.
This room was cold, wet and dark how was Tommy meant to see what he was doing, but lucky enough he could see some light coming from down the tunnel, he was getting really messy his clothes were dirty and muddy. Tommy continued through the tunnel and came across an old skeleton, “Haaaaaa” he shouted.
The body had been laying down the tunnel for many years, his clothes were extremely old and delicate , Tommy saw a sword “this looks old” so Tommy carefully picked up the sword and carried on along the tunnel, he came across some old stones pulled up with twigs pointing to the right passage so he followed them, the tunnel started to sloop downwards very quickly until he came to a short edge, “oh my now what” Tommy could hear and see water at the bottom very clearly so he though I will just jump and with that so he did.
He jumped and landed into the water and swam to the nearest rock side to climb out the water, Tommy was soaked though and cold and had nobody with him for support. As he looked up the light was shining through the rocks, to his amazement he could see the most beautiful pirates ship, “Tommy said aloud to himself “Oh my god” he couldn’t believe his eyes he decided to get a bit closer as he did he tried to climb aboard but he wasn't tall enough or strong enough to pull himself up the rope.
So instead he found an old wooden ladder to climb up instead “Oh my” he though. Tommy was standing on an old pirates ship with large old cannon’s and cannon balls, he decided to venture deeper on the ship and came across a room, it was unlocked so he opened it and went inside, their was a large table and on the table was loads of gold coins and sparkling ruby’s and old paper maps, Tommy couldn’t believe his luck he had found gold, his father would never have to work again.
So he looked around to find something and came across and old bag and filled it with all the pretty gem stones and papers and some gold because it was heavy.
He collected as much as he could and then made his way back out, next he needed to find the exit but lucky enough their was a hole in the rocks so he carefully managed to squeeze through them without getting hurt, he found himself back at coves beach not far from his home.
He ran as quickly as he feet could take him back home, when he arrived he changed his clothes and hid the bag of gold and gems under the floorboards, nobody will ever know about the pirates ship this was Tommy’s most kept big secret and he kept the instructions, so after sorting everything out he decided to wash up and get get ready for bed because it was getting late, Tommy’s father came in the room “hello son how’s your day been” Tommy replied “very rich father” and with that he turned over to go to sleep “goodnight pa”.
The following morning was another cold winter’s day so Tommy got his best clothes on and decided to go to the bank, he handed the bank man 100 gold coins, the bank in return gave him 100,000 bank notes to be checked in an account, so he went to the shop and bought one single envelope and returned home.
Once he returned home he placed the envelope on the table addressed to his father, his father returned home and saw the letter so he opened it, to his amazement he couldn’t believe was he was seeing “Oh my oh my were rich” his father never questioned to where the money came from, he just knew that from hear onwards everything was going to be alright, and he would never have to work again, they both lived happily ever after in the cottage by the cove.
