Prologue

Dylan was marked, make that cursed. He was bitten by a malevolent creature that promised him riches and power. Instead she cursed him.

“I’ve blessed you,” she said with a wicked smile as red liquid dropped down her mouth.

Dylan held his neck and fell to the ground. The pain was excruciating but it felt pleasant at the same time. Dylan could feel his body tingling.

“You wanted this,” She informed. “You gave me permission. I gave you what you wanted.”

Dylan started to shake like he was cold but then he felt a warmness come over him at the same time.

“I…I…” Dylan tried to express words but they couldn’t come out.

“You will thank me,” she said. “I promise you.”

Dylan felt sleepy. He felt like his life was being drained away from his body.

“You made…you made me…”Dylan still tried to speak.

Blood was gushing out of his neck even he pressed his hand against it.

“No I’ve awakened you,” She stated with another smile.

Dylan fell asleep.

chapter 1: Beauty is a trickster

Chapter 1

She stood 5’ll, model type body with luscious brown hair wit auburn highlights. She had green eyes and a smile that could melt ice. She seemed like she was only there at the party for him which seemed weird.

Dylan didn’t even want to come to the party but his friends insisted that he come. He had just broken up his relationship with his current girlfriend because she was getting too needy. Dylan hated that. She was becoming more and more possessive and that was getting on Dylan’s nerves.

Dylan knew he was a popular guy and could have the pick of the litter when it came to the ladies but he stuck with Allison for how long for God knows why. Dylan was a 6’2, athletic built socialite that had chestnut eyes and gracious skin tone. He played basketball for his high school and ladies would damn near faint if he fell or got fouled.

Dylan planned after the dumping of his girlfriend to spend a nice night at home jerking off to Asian porn. That was another problem with his former girlfriend, she never satisfied him. Sure she let him have it missionary style but that was about as boring as a nun opera. Dylan wanted a freak in the bed but not like slutty Stacey. He didn’t want to have to hear his name called at the local clinic and he answering to it wearing a mask and dark sunglasses.

His buddies, Jeffrey and Walter, insisted he come to what they preferred to as the ‘party of the year’. They thought every party had that title according to Dylan. At first, Dylan declined. He really wanted to see Ming Lee Ho give a gracious hand job to a random penis. But after about the tenth plea, he agreed. Besides his friends only shined better if he was with them.

Dylan entered the party and all eyes were on him as always. His boys just got the scraps and they were very much happy with it. Dylan wore that night his dark leather jacket with his faded jeans with small holes torn on the side. He wore a black tee shirt that had the words Just Had Some, Thanks written across it. Girls stopped him and laughed at the message on the shirt and then asked him ‘did he want some more?’

Dylan just keep laughing with his two boys in tow. The party, was like many others, at some snob rich kid’s house. The rich kid in question this time, Lawrence Kline, was a student that went to his school and heavy on the debate team because his family was pushing him into politics. Kline’s father had some kind of seat in a high court somewhere and was running for Governor and his mother was damn near on the campaign trail for Senate. Kline’s parents were never at home, which was more like a mansion, due to their busy schedule. His parent, however, made sure to use any debate event he was in as a speaking point for their own campaign attributes. Kline only had friends because of what he had and he didn’t mind sharing to keep them. Dylan was a person Kline practically liked. Dylan was just cool for the sake of being cool and Kline wanted that so bad. He wanted to idolize that persona instead of being a rich spoiled nerd that needed to buy friends.

Kline had personally invited Dylan but he knew Dylan wasn’t the type to just go to any party. Kline had to convince, more like bribe, two of Dylan’s closest friends so that Dylan would show up and make an appearance.

“Hey, Dylan,” Kline said greeting Dylan in front of the patio of the house.

“What’s up, man,” Dylan simply said as he looked at the mini mansion that was Kline’s house.

Jeffrey and Walter took their cue and left from Dylan’s side.

“I need to talk to you,” Kline said as Dylan’s friends walked away from them.

“Hey, guys, where you going?” Dylan asked his deserting posse.

“Check out the bitches,” Jeffrey yelled back and continued on his voyage.

“Like I said ‘I need to talk to you’”, Kline repeated. “Can we talk in private? The party is too loud inside.”

“Yeah, so why you out here gazing in my eyes instead of in there hosting your own party?” Dylan inquired.

“Because I need to talk to you,” Kline said.

“Look, man, if you about to confess some kind of weird…”Dylan was about to say.

“Not exactly,” Kline said and he grabbed Dylan’s arm.

Dylan yanked his arm away from Kline.

“Look, gee, I know you used to getting what you want but your bread ain’t that long,” Dylan said aggravated.

“It’s not what you think,” Kline informed.

“Stop looking at me with those puppy dog eyes,” Dylan insulted. “I know you was a weirdo. Yo, I’m out. Because I think you getting a hard on right now and Dylan Knight ain’t about that laugh. And rather than be out here beating the shit out of you. I’m going to the party and try to forget this crying game episode we almost had. I’m mad I’m missing my Asian porn for this. Look, dude, stay away from me for the rest of your life and I won’t tell nobody you tried to give me an indecent proposal.”

Kline stepped closer to Dylan.

“Dude, you in my space,” Dylan warned. “I will fuck you up, no question asked.”

“You don’t get it,’ Kline started shaking his head. “I need to…”

Dylan pushed Kline to the ground.

“Look, dude, I don’t know what your problem is but…” Dylan said walking away. “…stay away from me.”

Dylan was so disgusting. He was going to go straight home so he continue what he started with Ming Lee Ho and his right hand but something caught his eye, or more like someone.

He saw her outside the house looking at him. He could tell right away she didn’t go to his school. He looked at her for a second and she smiled. He never a girl smile so lovely. It nearly caught him off guard. She winked at him then went in the house. Dylan didn’t know what he was doing but it felt like he was being drawn to her. He abandoned his original plan and apologized to his hand and walked into the house.

Dylan was in a trance walking around the huge house looking for the girl that caught his eye. He finally stopped for two seconds to listen to a song he liked that the DJ was playing when he heard a voice behind him.

“Looking for me?” the sweetest and sexiest voice he ever heard said.

Dylan turned around and saw his angel of beauty.

“I guess I am,” Dylan replied, shyly.

That was odd. Dylan never was shy around girls. But this female had him almost tongue-tied. She smiled and Dylan could actually hear his heart beating.

“You’re cuter in person,” she remarked with a wink.

“Thank you,” Dylan said. “I…I…”

Dylan couldn’t believe it. He was acting like those punk ass kids he’s used to teasing about being afraid to talk to girls.

She laughed and put her index finger on the tip of his lips.

“Shhhhh. Just be cute,” She smiled. “You want to go somewhere. This party is bullshit. I already got the sexiest guy here anyway.”

As the duo was about to exit the house, they bumped into Kline who was coming in the front door.

“Uh…uh,” Kline started stammering. “What’s…what’s…going on?”

“We leaving,” the girl said like she was disgusted.

“But…but…” Kline couldn’t get words out of his mouth either. It was like he was in a trance as well. “I thought…that…”

“I said we’re leaving,” She reiterated this time more sternly.

Dylan didn’t know if it was his imagination but he swear he saw her eyes change color from green to bright red. Kline backed up. Her eyes flashed back to the original green color.

“You promised,” Kline whispered.

She ignored Kline and just grabbed Dylan by the hand and walked out the house. Kline looked at them leave as a tear drop down his eyes.

“You promised,” Kline whispered again.

“Where’s your car?” Dylan’s companion asked looking around.

“How did you know I had a car,” Dylan inquired.

“Most guys like you usually do,” she answered back quickly. ‘So where is it?”

“Right there,” Dylan pointed to the Ford Mustang Grand Coupe. “It was my dad’s before he passed. He was heavy into cars.”

“I bet he was,” she eyed the car like it was on an auction block. “What year?”

“1971,” Dylan responded proudly. “I kept it in good shape too. It really means a lot to me.”

“I bet you this bad boy gets you a lot of pussy,” she stated abruptly.

Dylan was shock at her words. Before he could reply, she just grabbed his hand again and walked him to the car.

“Take me somewhere,” she whispered in his ear. “Somewhere you usually don’t take girls to.”

She giggled and walked over to the passenger side of the car and got in. Dylan paused for a second. He looked back at the house. Kline was still standing in front of the house with his mouth opened in disbelief. It looked like he was mouthing the words, “you promise”.

Dylan shook whatever crazy feeling he was having and got into his vehicle. His female companion was already getting nice and cozy in the leather upholstery she was sitting on.

“I don’t even know your name,” Dylan said starting the engine.

“Destiny,” she replied with a smile.

“Nice, my name is…” Dylan was about to introduce himself when she put her index fingers on his lip again.

“Your name is Mines Tonight,” Destiny declared. “Now drive me.”

Dylan didn’t utter another word, he just revved up the engine and pulled off.

Dylan didn’t know what she meant by taking her somewhere he normally wouldn’t take a girl to but all he could think about was that old abandoned church on Fox Wood Avenue. It was called Holy Bethlehem Resurrection Church. The church used to have a huge congregation step inside it’s’ door at one point in time. But after it got reported that the so called Minister or pastor of the church was doing all types of illegal acts like child abuse, sacrificing and trying to get members to conduct incense, people around the area got in rage and burned the church down. The members of the church either scattered, moved or were brought up on criminal charges. However, the church despite being burned still held its’ structure. People believed the church was cursed because of all the evil doings that been conducted inside so nobody ever stepped foot inside of it and the realtor of the property could never resale it. That church became Dylan’s safe haven, a place of solitude. He didn’t know how he found out about it or even why he first stepped inside but one day he just did. It was like he was drawn to the place. Some force made him go to the church and select that it is his fort of isolation.

Dylan couldn’t help but get the feeling Destiny wanted him to take her there.

Destiny was in awe when she saw the condemned church. Her smile was beyond happiness. It was like she was in Disney World.

The windows were boarded up and most of the pews were destroyed due to the fire. There was a huge padlock on the door but there was a secret entrance in the back. Dylan never knew how he found it. He just came to the church one day and then found the entrance like it was personally made for him.

“This is perfect,” Destiny said with glee.

“It is,” Dylan admitted. “I thought knowing about this place made me feel like…I don’t know…some sort of a freak or something. I didn’t even tell my friends about this place. They probably would think I was crazy for even coming here.”

Dylan looked at the upside down crucifix that was hanging on the wall.

“I just felt like I had a connection to this place for some reason,” Dylan stated.

Dylan’s heart started beating fast again and he could see his breath in condensation as a cold chill ran through him.

“Did you ever wonder why you feel the way you feel, act the way you act and think the way you think?” Destiny queried.

“Don’t we all,” Dylan responded between cold breaths. “Is it me or is it freezing in here? I didn’t feel that before.”

“Did you ever think you were different from everybody else?” Destiny asked standing right beside him looking at the upside down crucifix on the wall.

“Shit, of course I do, I’m great,” Dylan joked.

His confidence was coming back to him. He felt like he was getting energy the closer she was to him.

“You are great,” Destiny agreed. “Don’t you want to be greater? Don’t you want the world to not only eat from the palm of your hands but lick your fingers while they doing it?”

“Who wouldn’t?” Dylan smiled. The cold chill came back but this time was more welcoming like it was going through his whole body.

“I can make that happen,” Destiny whispered. “From birth, you were meant to be something different, something better. It’s been inside of you all along. Your grandfather had it and now you have it.”

“My grandfather?” Dylan was puzzled.

“Yes, your father had the gene but it wasn’t that strong in him,” Destiny reported. “It’s almost busting out of you.”

“My fa…father?” Dylan’s breathing was becoming irate.

“Yes, he was not ready to reach his full potential,” Destiny confessed. “But you are.”

Dylan was now having trouble breathing.

“What…what’s…going…on?” Dylan tried to muster.

“Your inner being trying to come out,” Destiny confirmed. “It wants to be set free. Will you set it free? Will you accept what you were meant to be? You can have it all, better than before. Don’t you want that? Don’t you deserve that?”

“I…I…” Dylan felt like his lungs were carving in.

“Tell me you want it all,” Destiny said. “And I will give it to you.”

“I…I…” Dylan was holding his chest.

Dylan looked at Destiny. He felt like he was a heart attack and she was offering the antidote for the ailment. Destiny started taking off all her clothes as Dylan stared trying to keep his heart from busting out of his chest.

Destiny stood there, naked, her body a picture of perfection.

“Don’t you want me?” Destiny said doing a model twirl so he could see every surface of her body. “Don’t you want it all? Don’t you want your Destiny?”

“Yes…yes,” Dylan finally was able to say.

Destiny smiled like she won the lottery. She ran and hugged him. He felt the warmness of her body and his breathing started to slow down. Dylan started to feel relax.

“You can have me,” Destiny whispered. “I’m yours and you are his.”

Dylan put his arms around her as she continue to hug him. Destiny kissed him passionately on the lips. Dylan felt like she was trying to take his tongue out his mouth. She finally stopped kissing him and started to kiss his neck. Dylan all of sudden felt a sharp pain. Dylan pushed her off him and put his hand on his neck that was now gushing out blood.

Destiny just starting laughing. Destiny’s eyes were now bright red and her mouth…

Destiny had two long fanged molars in her mouth that wasn’t there before and they were dripping with blood…his blood.

Destiny’s petite hands started growing long nasty fingernails. Her soft milky skin started to strip off her body revealing a whole different sinister form underneath.

“What are you?” Dylan could hear and smell his blood pulsating from his neck. “What have you done to me?”

“I’ve blessed you,” she said with a wicked smile as red liquid dropped down her mouth.

Dylan held his neck tighter and fell to the ground.

Blood was gushing out of his neck even as he pressed his hand against it.

“No, I’ve awakened you,” She stated with another smile. “All your life has been leading to this moment. That party, this place, meeting me was all destined for you. All set up for you to make the right decision.”

“What…what… decision?” Dylan was feeling so drained now. “I’m…dying…call…call…”

“No you not dying,” Destiny said now in her true form. “You just ready to start your real life.”

Dylan couldn’t fight it anymore. His body was getting weak. He closed his eyes and passed out.

Chapter 2: first bite

Chapter 2

Dylan woke up not being able to move. It was like his legs were jelly. His arms laid on his side limp. He was still covered in his own blood but he didn’t feel any pain.

Destiny was standing over him. She was back to her beautiful human form fully clothed though.

“Weak,” was all that Dylan could muster.

“Yes, you need to feed to gain your strength,” Destiny informed. “You don’t always need to but at your weakest, which you are now, you need to feed on the flesh of the living to gain their energy to purify you. When you are weak, you are the most vulnerable, remember that. But don’t worry you feel like this for long.”

Destiny put up a smile that looked dangerous as it did serene. Dylan just looked up at her and nodded. He just wanted to feel alive again. All he felt was thirsty.

“Hello?” Dylan heard another voice coming inside the church.

Destiny smile grew wider for a second.

“Right here, lover,” Destiny called to the person.

“What is this place?” the voice inquired coming closer to where Destiny and Dylan were. “Is this that old church that got burnt down? Damn it looks like shit. Surprised it’s still standing after all that…Dylan!”

Dylan looked up to see Kline standing next to Destiny with a look of shock on his face.

“What the hell happened to him?” Kline asked looking Dylan laid out on the floor with two puncture wounds in his neck and dry blood all over his black tee shirt and jeans. “You alright. Dylan? What the hell happened to him?”

“Remember what we talked about?” Destiny reminded Kline. “Now this is your chance.”

“Wait…you saying he’s a…”Kline tried to put it together.

“He is now,” Destiny confirmed with glee. “And you will be his first.”

“First?” Kline puzzled.

“Yes, you will be the first he turns,” Destiny lied.

“I thought you said that…”Kline was confused.

“I said you needed a top one to turn you,” Destiny interrupted. “And that’s him.”

“But he just turned himself,” Kline said looking at Dylan. “And look at him, he barely looks like he about to live much longer.”

“I told you all the prospects of being a donor,” Destiny said trying to ease Kline’s mind. “I told you all the perks and the benefits you got with the term. You can have all that power too. But you have to want it and want requires sacrifice.”

“I don’t…”Kline doubted.

“I knew you wasn’t ready for this,” Destiny said, pretending to be frustrated. “You want to be a loser that people can use and then laugh behind your back. You want to live forever in your parents’ shadow and under the influence of their money. You don’t have shit for yourself. You forever will be the Kline the Mime because you don’t say shit but just do what people tell you. Or do you want to man the fuck up?”

Kline still looked skeptical for a minute. He looked back at Dylan laying hopeless on the floor. He admired Dylan, more than he should have. Dylan had swagger and confidence. Dylan didn’t care what people thought of him but yet people still wanted to be around him. Dylan didn’t have to listen to people tell him what to do then not be around when he needed them.

“You see that man right there,” Destiny was now whispering in Kline’s ear. “He is everything you want to be. Strength and confidence, that’s what you want. You want to be someone your parents can be proud of or just another ploy for their own gain. His powers can be yours. All you have to do is…”

Destiny put one arm around Kline and gestured with her other hand for him to kneel down. Kline looked into Destiny’s beautiful green eyes and was overwhelmed by her once again. Kline knelt down in front of Dylan.

“This will be the last time you will have to submit to anyone, again,” Destiny assured as she rubbed Kline’s shoulders.

Destiny left by Kline’s side and went next to Dylan. She lifted Dylan’s upper torso so he could face Kline in the knelt position.

“You need this, Dylan,” Destiny said. “It’s alright. Right, Lawrence?”

“Let me be you first,” Kline offered.

“What…what…do I have to do?” Dylan asked faintly.

Feed!” Destiny’s eyes light up and changed colors again.

Kline moved his head so the right of his neck was fully exposed. Dylan could almost smell Kline’s scent. It was intoxicating. Dylan’s teeth started to tingle.

“Owwwwww!” Dylan bellowed as two fanged molars started to grow from his gums. It hurt like hell but the pain was soon replaced by more thirst.

Dylan could almost hear Kline’s blood pumping through the veins in Kline’s neck. It had its’ own heartbeat and it was pulsating louder and louder. It was almost as if Kline’s blood was calling out to Dylan. Dylan started salivating like a hungry dog.

“Feed!” Destiny encouraged Dylan moving Dylan’s head forward.

“I…I…”Dylan wanted to so bad but he still felt conflicted.

“No more words,” Destiny said. “Just feed.”

Dylan’s fangs felt like they were stinging his gums in anticipation.

“Please, Dylan, do it,” Kline said a tear ran down his cheek. “You need it. I need it.”

Dylan looked at Kline’s face then at Kline’s neck, Kline’s juicy succulent neck that held the very essence that made us being. Blood was the essence of life. You needed it to live…you needed it to grow. Wherever there is no blood circulating, there is no life. That area becomes numb. Dylan’s whole body felt numb and he needed to fill the void. He needed to feel alive.

Dylan opened his mouth and bit down hard on Kline’s neck. Kline started screaming in pain but Dylan never let up. Dylan’s eyes began to turn red. Dylan started feeling stronger as every ounce of blood drained from Kline’s body and entered his.

“Yes, yes!” Destiny started to yell as if she was having a massive orgasm just watching the transaction. “Feed, baby. Feeeeeeeedddd!!!”

Kline was losing consciousness and was now trying to push Dylan off of him before Dylan took all his blood. Kline was getting weaker and finally his arms just dropped to his sides.

Dylan finally released Kline’s neck from his fanged grip. Kline just dropped to the floor. Dylan got up, blood dripping from his mouth, eyes bloodshot red. He looked down at Kline then turned his sights on Destiny.

“Welcome home, baby,” Destiny said looking at the new Dylan. “Welcome back.”

chapter 3: the explaination

Chapter 3

Dylan felt better than he ever felt before. He felt more than great, he felt invincible. Destiny couldn’t wait to tell her new lover Dylan all about his new powers and how to use them.

“First of all, don’t believe none of that shit you saw or read in that bullshit Twilight Saga and Fright night bullshit,” Destiny explained. “Our kind is far too superior for mere mortals to understand, that’s why they try to simply shit and make it look stupid. Except Underworld, I actually looked the bitch they got for that movie. Reminds me of me but anyway, back to what I was saying. Our kind don’t live in coffins and we aren’t afraid of garlic, some may be allergic, maybe, but I love that stuff, especially on Italian bread. Second of all…” she glanced at the upside crucifix. “That cross shit don’t work on us. You can’t be afraid of something you don’t believe in.”

“So…so…I’m a…”Dylan was trying to conclude. “A vamp…”

“Let me finish,” Destiny continued. “Freak what you heard about us being undead like we some stupid zombies. We are much alive and living. We can eat regular food like anybody else. We can live normal lives like anybody else. We only need blood for pure energy. We don’t need it every day just enough to survive and remain strong. We not uncivilized monsters that dwell around looking for victims in the middle of the night to suck their blood. No, we are very well organized and very resourceful. We select donors to help our needs. People like your friend here volunteer to help us feed. Some donors do it with the false belief that will turn themselves or be accepted into our society. Truth is, no can be turned. That shit in the movies and books is bunk. If a snake bit you, you wouldn’t turn into a snake. You was just be hurt and bleeding. The same rules applies. You either born a certain way or you’re not. All of us has the gene sine birth but it has to be awakened in us or brought out. Most receive awakenings through rapid distress, a traumatic experience, a revelation or like the way I awaken you. There’s other ways I can’t even name but once you have awoken to your true nature, you start seeing things in a whole different light. Her senses heighten. Your way of being transforms. Also get that silly notion out your head that you will burn up in the sunlight. The sunlight does the same to every human in the world, it burns your skin. We are extra sensitive to sunlight but that can be contained with sunscreen and sun glasses. And that stake in the heart bit. Well, that’s true if someone drives a stake in your heart, you will die. But shit, unless you Superman or from the planet of superheroes, anybody drives a stake to any living being’s heart is going to die. It’s a freaking sharp pointy stick going through your fucking heart.” She laughed.

“Can I fly?” Dylan mused.

“Like I said we vampires not Superman,” Destiny remarked. “We can’t transform into bats, and we don’t grow wings out of our back like some damn arch angel. We are regular people that’s just above average. That’s it.”

“Doesn’t seem so thrilling,” Dylan sound disappointed.

“Trust me, it’s beyond thrilling,” Destiny said. “You will soon see.”

Dylan nodded absorbing all the power conducting throughout his body.

Dylan looked at Kline who was still laid out on the floor in a coma state.

“What about him?” Dylan asked about Kline.

“What about him?” Destiny snickered. “He’s a blood slave.”

“He’s gonna rat,” Dylan informed. “He’s going to tell…”

“A slave knows its place but we can fix that,” Destiny smiled. “We can fix that real good.”

“Where do I go from here?” Dylan inquired. He still had so much to learn

“Back to your life just anew,” Destiny replied. “You’ll know what to do. Your real senses will kick in.”

Dylan lifted his leather jacket off the floor.

“I’ll take care of him,” Destiny assured. “Just go and enjoy the night. And be careful, now that you are awaken, you’ll start seeing many more like us. But they may try to lure you astray so be careful.”

Dylan nodded. He was ready to see the world in a new light.

“What about you?” Dylan asked. “Won’t you need a ride…”

“I can always find my way around,” Destiny laughed. “I mean come on, look at me. Do I look like I will have a problem getting around?”

Dylan laughed with her.

“I guess not,” Dylan replied. “I bets to go get home. Feels like I’ve been out for days.”

“It just seems that way.”

“But I feel so different.”

“Good, because now you really are.”

Dylan smiled. “Yeah.”

Destiny watched Dylan leave and then looked at Kline.

“Poor, poor Lawrence,” Destiny knelt down in front of Kline’s body. “A lot of people are going to miss you.”
