STRIP OF LIGHT
He noticed it the third night. In the past two weeks he had got into a habit of going out for a drink at nine and not returning till one or two pm. Worse for drink he’d stagger up the stairs and along the corridor. The first few nights he hadn’t noticed in the gloom of the passage. Then on the third night he saw the yellow light under the door of room seven. Over the following nights it was always there, that warm yellow strip.
He drank because he was alone. He went to the pub for company. He’d not always been alone. A broken relationship
