      Once upon a time there was a Welsh chieftain, Hwuw, who had in his court at Emlynn a young harper called Dafydd Ap Gryffydd.
Dafydd was gifted and had been sent by his father to Emlynn to be apprenticed to the old bard Lluw of the Nine Gifts.
