Chapter one

I Kate Brave Mercier, am the Generation Witch.

   It's a powerful title to have, one you must use carefully.
   The title and the powers were all passed down to me by my mother,
   Gloria Brave Mercier. The LATE Gloria Brave Mercier.
   My mother and father were killed in a car crash a year ago.
    Leaving my sister and I orphaned, we moved to Paris, to live with
    our grandfather and grandmother. Or Pappy and Mamie.

    I look out toward the river and sigh.
    I wanted to go home,but I couldn't. Not now.

My phone rings. I know who it is and I just want to lie here. But my phone continues to ring and ring and       ring.
    I pick it up from the blanket and slide the bar to answer.

"Hello?" I say pinching the bridge of my nose.
     "Hello, Kate. How are you?" Alexa, one of my friends here asks.       "Fine. So what do you want?" I ask.

     "Royal Raven is demanding a gathering. Like, I don't know, NOW." Alexa says. Then she hangs up.   

Did I mention that I'm a psychic too?
