Prolouge:
As the mist cleared, the white shape slid down the cliffside, her paws acoustomed to the steep surface. Chapter 1
Dawnkit listened to the rustling of leaves, and the small pawsteps of prey. Turning, she spotted a small mouse scuffling in the leaves a couple
tail lengths away. Crouching down, Dawnkit put one paw in front of another gently, knowing that mice can feel her pawsteps if she wasn't careful.
Pushing off with her hindlegs, she landed right on top of the startled mouse and killed it with a bite to its neck. Swiping her tounge over her lips, she
gingerly picked up her prey and headed back to where her mother waited. Purring with pride, her mother leaped to her paws.
"Amazing, Dawnkit! You have almost got the hunter's crouch!" her mother meowed. Dawnkit stood taller and looked up at her mother.
"Thank you, Moonfeather!" she meowed, stretching up to touch her mother's nose. Moonfeather gently licked her ear and then she sat back.
A little golden tabby ran over to Dawnkit on unsteady legs.
"You're great, Dawnkit! How'd you do that?" she asked excitedly. Dawnkit purred in amusement.
"Sunkit, it's easy!" Dawnkit meowed patienly to her sister. Crouching down, Sunkit lost her balance and fell onto her flank.
"Oof!" she meowed suddenly.
"Sunkit! You're as lopsided as a one-alegged badger!" Nightkit hissed playfully.
"I'll show you lopsided!" Sunkit yowled, Leaping at Nightkit. The small black tom hissed in suprise as Sunkit knocked him off his paws.
