chapter one.

Hiding my head in my folded arms I close my eyes ready to sleep, Ms. Noble won’t mine, I at least hope not. After 2 minutes of perfect silence I started to daze off, but I didn’t get to sleep instead I was woken by the screaming of Ms. Noble.

“Ms. Smith wake up and class look up here.” Groaning I lift my head but keep my eyes closed. Rubbing my eyes with my knuckles I started to fully be there. Opening my eyes I saw Ms. Noble man stripping a new kid with her eyes. Holding back a laugh I cough into my hand, letting out the laugh a little.

“Do you need to go to the nurse Ms. Smith,” Ms. Noble yelled at me and I just shook my head and bit my lip surprising yet another laugh.

“Well class, now that everyone is awake,” Ms. Noble said starring right at me and I gave her a bright smile then she continued “we have a new student attending and staying at Affluent Academy.” She clapped her hands together and pointed the seat next to me, all of the guys and girls groaned, and I joined them.

“She didn’t introduce me, I’m Damon Parks,” he said to me sitting to the seat next to me. Nodding my head I flashed a smile and looked out the window. You must be thinking, oh she is very stupid if she isn’t doing her work, well I’ve done it I’ve been done since 7 minutes after it was handed to me. In this academy there are no honors, and a.p classes, just plain boring regular classes. The bell rang and it was break time, that was 3rd lesson so this break then one more lesson and then dorm room number 490 awaits. Picking up my bag I drop my pencil in it and then gather my papers to hand in. Walking up to Ms. Noble I smiled and held out the paper for her, and she took it with a scowl. I love my relationship with Ms. Noble, I thought to myself. About to skip away I felt a tap on my shoulder and I turned around to be face and face with the newbie Damon Parks. He doesn’t smell human, but he doesn’t smell like anything else, in fact he smells like air. My eyes narrow and my mind was determined to figure it out.

“Where do I go next,” he asked handing me his schedule. Making sure that our skin doesn’t contact I take the schedule carefully and read through it. Wonderful every single lesson together.

“Break, that means basically anywhere just not off campus,” I explained and he looked clueless, so I took his hand and pulled him out of the school building into the field only a few inches away. Settling under a tree I take out my book from my bag and looked at Damon again. What is he, every part of me wanted to know.

“What are you,” I blurted out silently. He looked up at me a bit dumbfounded then shook his head. This is going to be harder then I thought.

“I’m what you are,” he said and I wondered if he could be a shifter also until he continued, “a human.” Shaking my head I opened my book up to the page I left off and started to read. I looked up from my book and at Damon. He looked as confused and dumbfounded as I do at the moment.

“Are you sure you’re human,” I asked softly so no human could hear, it’s a trick.

“I’m sure,” he responded and I closed my book with a victorious face.

“Wrong,” I sung happily.

“What,” he asked sharply.

“You responded to me saying something no human could hear,” I sung again. He started at me and registered it.

“You’re not human,” he questioned confused.

“Nope,” I replied regularly. He looked at me for a minute then scooted closer.

“Then what are you,” he asked into my ear, his hot breathe breathing on my ear.

“Cheetah,” I said softly. He leaned back a bit and starred at me. He stood up and started to walk away.

“Hey get your butt back here,” I yelled picking up my book and bag running after him.

“I told you and now you tell me, that’s how it works,” I told him.
