Chapter One: Drafted

It was a cold sunday morning I heard the door bell ring and murmering then crying I ran as fast as I could to the living room to see what was going on. i came in my mother was on the floor crying her eyes out while trying to say something but all I caught was hes' just a boy. I looked at the man he was dressed in a clean Military Sergants uniform at that moment I knew I had been drafted. He noded at me and i noded back I packed up said my goodbyes and left there was no point or way to fight it I was going with that man either way. In the jeep he introduced himself as Sgt. Mark and I introduced my self as Adder for this is my name.

For the whole ride picking up more and more drafted boys because thats what we were boys. Most kept quiet and went easy others put up a fight they knew they had a low chance of coming back maby even not a chance at all. I knew most of us wouldnt I knew and I could tell some of the others knew this as well. After we had picked up the rest of the drafted we headed towards the base Fort Willinger. That day there was no training just time to get settled in and that was it.

Chapter Two: It All Starts Here

In the morning it had all seemed like a dream but it wasnt I knew because of the grey wall I was facing when I awoke. The first day of training was bad it would continue like this for six more weeks. After six weeks of training those who had the pyhisical ability to be special operations were being chosen. I watched as those among us that were fit were being taken into jeeps each jeep had the symbol of the spec opps they were carying. Six men per jeep Green Beret filled fast then Delta Force next up was Rangers. The Rangers had two jeeps because they could take more men and it surprised me when I heard my name be called. I stood not moving until the Sgt gave me direct orders to get in the jeep I walked slowly to the jeep not knowing what was going on what had just happened it had all seemed not real.

I looked deep into the eyes of the men I had been training with for the past six weeks friends I had come to know very closly. Most of them I would never see again those that didnt get into the seals or sog wouldnt make it. This was world war three I realize this now the common soldier wont make it. As we were leaving I felt sad i had become one of their brothers we all were brothers we would all ways be brothers. We had reached the training camp for the Rangers this is where it would start all of it.

Chapter Three: Welcome To The Rangers

I could see it in the sergant's eyes to him we were all just his maggots his trainees that he could make do anything he wasnt gona stop till every last one of us were fully trained fully operational soldiers. Day one was the most pain I had ever gone threw. Weeks later my training was over we were going to be deployed as soon as they had an opening. It took three weeks before they had an opening in the airspace to drop us in. The fighting was getting heated talk of nuclear warfare was becoming more persistant. We knew even if this happened we would still be in the front lines we would be completly obliterated along with our enemys.

The day we left was a day filled with nervousnes we said nothing most of the deployment plane ride to the field of combat. The only time there was anything said was when the Sergant gave us the speech to get us ready. At the end no one cheered we knew that most of us wouldnt make it you could tell by looking into the eyes of the others they had all lost hope. They knew they could die and possibly would and I couldnt help but wonder is this what it always has been like in war. I feared for my life for everything I loved and cared for was out of my reach I could never see them again.

Chapter Four: The Field

We reached the lz at noon on thursday the tenth of December it was bitter cold. The German forces had advanced towards us they outnumbered us two to one and the fighting had begun. Their forces were strong but they had no heart we won that battle and all the way up to the fith with almost no casulties. The sixth though we lost horribly the Germans advanced and killed most of our men. I had been lucky I was in the back so we had time to prepare for the fight. we broke into two groups and flanked them ending most of the mens lives but there was stll more to come.

While we were fighting I had become disoriented and confused all I could see was white I had been flashed. It had been about a little less than 120 seconds I had done what I learned in training drop and dont move this kept me alive. When I finally could see again I wished I couldnt in front of was a mangled and bloody body of a man named Peter he had taken three bullets to the chest and a frag right from under him. The sight was horrific there was blood every where his right arm was right next to my face still warm I could see the steam rising off the lifeless limb. I couldnt stand up the sight had completly shut my body down I couldnt move.

Chapter Five: True Blood

I heard the Germans moving closer and closer I either needed to move or I would die. As I stood a bullet flew right in front of me closer to my head than I would have liked I turned and shot sending the piece of hot led into the Germans head sending him hutling to the ground blood explode from his head splattering over his friends behind him. I quickly jumed over a sand bag bunker and took cover as bullets began to fly towards me I poped my head up and fired and fired and fired till my clip was empty I switched it out as quickly as I emptied it. Each bullet that left the end of my barrel it hit someone I watched as I was dropping Germans left and right sending blood everywhere behind them leaving the ground soaked with blood and ripped off flesh to most the sight would cause them to freeze but I just kept fireing into the masses of soldiers.

I had been foucusing in on the enemys infront of me but not on the sides they closed in on me. I just caught a glimpse out of the corner of my eye I jumped the bullet missing me by inches. I yurned and fired the mans head exploded leaving nothing but a stub of his neck. The sight was bloody but I kept shooting sending bullets threw everyone till there was an opening I turned and ran. I made it to another sand bag pile in which I took cover.

Chapter Six: Iron Fist

I heard a rumbling I knew what it was bomber German bombers othrwise known as the iron fist. Bombs rained apon the battle field destroying everything and everyone in its path the luck for us was a slight miscalculation so the bombers dropped to soon and didnt hit us altho we stilll lost men. The aftermath of the bombing caused a lot of the men to go crazy from the blood and gore. I stood staring out into the field I didnt know what I thought about the death around me it just all seemed natural to me.

I froze staring out over the field I canceled out all soldiers around me. A man Pvt Truck was the one who pulled me off the field and on the chopper. The ride back all you could hear was screaming and crying I stayed quiet. The floor was covered in blood from the injured a man next to me was missing a leg they patchedhim up but he was pale to pale his life was done for he would be dead with in the next hour. We had arived at base camp but half the injured had died and they were being packed in body bags the ones alive were being taken to medical tents.

Chapter Seven: Blood And Honor

I seen people Ive trained with die today people I knew people that were my friends that id never see again. My heart stayed solid on the outside but inside I was breaking I watched as they put my friend Kyle in a body bag and caried him away he was a good man strong and reliable. He was twenty six he had two daghters one was two and the other one was three he also had a wife Kelly. They would never see him again his kids would have to spend the rest of their lives without him always asking their mother where their dad was. I had survived and held the evac position but I felt like I had done nothing all I did was fire into the groups of enemys but I received honor those had fallen got nothing they were lost blood not needed any more.

Even though the Germans bomed themselves they won the battle we were crippled and forced to retreat they took the field. Our commanders werent going to let this happen we met up with two strong forces of regular infantry all together there were about six thousand of us just the amount to take the field back and reclaim what we lost. We would be deployed tommorow at noon. While we were still alive I got to know Truck and Dent two Pvt that had become my best friends before the sun rose.

Chapter Eight: Brothers In Arms

Both Truck and Dent were part of my squad and had watched friends die they had also spilled the blood of German soldiers advancing. We all had quickly become friends fast Truck was actully from my town and his real name is Travis Macaby he played Football his high school years and Base Ball during college but was drafted before he could make it any higher. Dent came from a few towns over his real name was Derek he had a wife and son Lily and Brent he had just got married last year a month before his son was born. And then there was me a 18 year old soldier I had no life no girl my friends were more like strangers. I was an avrege student no grade lower than a D truly a boring life but now I stand fighting in a war.

April Fith Two Years later. We had become friends fast we trusted each other like brothers. This would help us survive we had each others backs. We were deployed early the next morning w were going to some place called the bone yard at first I didnt understand but when I saw it it made since there were rotted bodies everywhere you could see the bones and torn flesh it stunk bad. I stood in shock even though this was a battle field and I needed to get moving as soon as possible. I couldnt help but notice most of the bodies were American about a fith were Germans. A bullet was what snapped me out of the trance like state I dropped fast and took cover behind a sandbag wall. At first I thought I had been hit I was screaming and kicking Truck ran over doging holes and rubble and dragged me to a safer area to check out what was happening.

He skimmed over me not finding anything behind him was Dent laying down cover for us. Truck shook me and yelled that I was fine it was nothing this brought me resurance I smiled and said really. He looked at me with this look like I was an idot and told me ya your fine. We were pinned down and seperated from the rest of the soldiers we moved around the back dissapering from sight and moving towards the side of the Germans. We wernt carrying support wepons but if we could distract them for even just a second our forces could move foward and lay down Sixty fire. The force of Germans would be crushed immeditly after that at least in the bone yard. We pushed forward out of the bodies undetected and came on to a hill we took cover and began firing into the Germans they stopped scatered then returned fire the Americans moved up and began laying down Sixty fire. Germans began dropping like flies stuck in between two guns.

Chapter Nine: May The Fallen Rest While We Burn

We kept firing into them blood covered the ground men still alive laying in pools of it. We emptied our weapons then moved back down and towards the soldiers by the time we reached them the Germans had begun to retreat. As we were coming around the corner a American mistaked us for Germans he fired once it all went in slow motion I could hear the whine of the bullet as it flew right next to my ear I thought it had missed us all I tripped and fell into a pool of blood I roled and looked back the bullet had hit Dent an inch from his heart it exitd through his shoulder blade sending bone fragments out his back Truck was standing with a look in his eyes that told you something was wrong I began to scream over and over medic medic.

Blood was gushing out I tried toput pressure but it just kept going and going. By the time the medic had reached Dent hed lost half his blood he had finally stopped bleeding and I feared he was dead the medic confirmed he was close to dieing but saveable he patched Dent up and called in a medievac. Me and Truck loaded Dent on and watched as he was carried away. There was a chance we would never see him alive again. Our enmies the ones that we fired at the ones that fired back werent the ones to take him down it was a kid one that didnt belong here he feared for his life and that is the reason Dent is losing his. One kid not sure what was going on around him one that should have never been drafted one that would surly die.

Chapter Ten: True Blood And Fake Promises

Dent was in critical condition he had lost a lot of blood he was dying and all he asked for was to see us. When me and Truck were informed of this we left the base camp to meet him. His condition was getting worse and we all feared he would die. He had me write a letter to his wife and kids because of how bad he was. Before we left he had made us promis that we would make it out alive and live for him. We countered his promis by making him promis to live through this. He did he promised he would be fine but these were just words, words that were empty and full of lie he knew what was happening. Later that night he died and with his last breath he was able to write on a sheet of paper that he was sorry that he broke his promis and he loved his family back home.

The day was rainy I was angry, angry at my self for not being able to save Dent angry at the kid that shot him angry at the Military for drafting a man with a family. My anger built with each second that passed I was becoming filled with rage and hate for everything. Now that Dent was gone it was just me and Truckin this war alone two soliders that had limitations on what we could do. Two soliders unfit for war and battle. We would be deployed the next day before noon into a place they called the field of no return this was for a good reason the German's have it locked down tight with sixtys on each bunker allowing them to rip anything to shreds if it tryed to move up on them.

Chapter Eleven: Red Trails And Broken Dreams

The battle had started before we reached the LZ making it a hot landing. A panzershrek flew just ppast us twice. Our lives were in danger yet we talked about what we wanted to do when we got back. I didnt know what I would do I didnt do anything back there I dont know what I would do. Truck said he was gonna start his family with his sweetheart Ashley Peticot. A boy Derek abot 18 had said that once he got back home he would move back in with his mom and live the rest of his time with her because of the way she made him feel like he was safe that nothing could hurt him. I replied she's not out here she cant save you here the only thing keeping you alive is your rifle.

When we landed the field was stained with trails of blood. The sight was disturbing it caused me to cringe. I stepped out in the field a bullet flew right by my head it whinned and struck a soldier that I didnt know the man dropped to his knees and fell over. I watched as truck ran forward and slid into a nearby rock and then I saw it I saw my death I would not leave here alive. I watched as a bomber plane dropped its cargo I jumpped back as the flames engulfed everything and everyone in it's range.

Chapter Twelve: A Lost Life

Pain was surging throgh my body my vison was blured the smell of blood was in the air I could not tell if it was mine or other peoples I just figured it was both. I couldnt lift my head it felt like I had lost my strength and I couldnt feel my legs. When I had finnaly regained some strength I lifted my head and looked down and almost began to cry both of my legs were crushed one was half off. As I examained more I found three holes in my torso where bullets or other projectiles had went through me. The blood was everywhere and half my body was scorched I looked around and many of those I had come to know were lifeless bodies now. I looked next to me and saw Truck lying with his eyes wide oped and staring with a look of pain. I looked back at the sky and began to feel dizzy I began to cry but not for fear that I would lose my life but tears of joy that it was all finnaly over all the pain and misery. After all if I would survive I would live with the pain of my friends deaths life is not the soloution to my problem to this war death was because I would no longer live with the pains of life this is my soloution and always will be. I felt my breath start to slip my sight began to blurr this is it this is my answer. Everything went black and then silent.
