SHAHEED UDHAM SINGH
Udham Singh is one of the highest national martyrs of India. It is a pity that no sealed information about the background of the martyr is available. People of different communities have been trying their best to associate Shaheed Udham Singh with their own community just to make their community famous, whereas Shaheed Udham Singh even gave his name as Ram Muhammad Singh Azad. He had given the same name in court during the 'murder case'.
Many legends about Shaheed Udham Singh are also prevalent in different cities of the province. Almost all the members of this group have also passed away.
Occasional writings are also found. But even these do not provide a complete overview, only a few glimpses. Old associates of the Hindustani Mazdoor Sabha point out that although Udham Singh himself did not take a direct part in the original functioning of the Mazdoor Sabha, it was started in 1938 with his own tactics and encouragement. He was also the father of the first Indian workers' organization in England.
The British government has recently released some documents about Udham Singh. It sheds light on the last days of his life.
These documents paint a picture of Udham Singh's courage and commitment to the people, but they are not able to shed much light on other aspects of life. Greater research is needed to know the entire life of a martyr.
