Preface

Dear Readers,

I am not a professional writer but I always loved to pen my thoughts in a simple language right from my school days because following every individual with creative pursuits, I believed in preserving the most cherished moments of my life. I would be honest to confess that life has presented in a platter before me umpteen numbers of opportunities to come in close contact with scholars, entrepreneurs. Industrialists and most importantly, ordinary people with extraordinary ideas. The very idea of writing a book emanated from my continued interaction entrepreneurs with innovative ideas during my stint in an entrepreneurial association and honest intent to produce something for entertainment coupled with education for the community as a whole. Since my early childhood, I was a voracious reader and I got addicted to books very quickly, Thrillers and murder mysteries by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie used to keep me enthralled. My appetite for reading was so palpable that it took a heavy toll on my studies. However, the narration of a grand experience in words came naturally to me; it is like "A calling" which was irresistible.

Through the myriad experiences of my life by encountering different kinds of people around us in all strata, I loved to study, analyse and interpret different behavioural patterns. Friends, I would like to share with you that one homogeneous characteristic is prevalent in most of the people I came across, they believe or rationalize what they are doing irrespective of the nature and outcome of their activities. This characteristic is not limited to Homo Sapiens alone, but it is also true even in animals, ranging from the most loveable puppies to fiercest alligator. What I tried to do was to capture the various moments of their lives, their impact, my feelings about them and how I think they could improve upon and transmit their good attributes to others. But in reality, every human being is distinct and we now know through our motivational writers that we ideally should follow the wise and not imitate them.

The most important lesson in life is expression. This is what distinguishes the competent from incompetent, the winner from the loser and the writer from the thinker.

I am sure all of you are aware of Dead Sea, most of us have read about it in geography class few years back. It is actually not a sea but a lake, so high in its salt content that the human body can just float easily. There is no fish, no vegetation, no sea animal, hence the name dead sea.

On the contrary, the sea of Galilee is north of Dead sea and even though both thrive on the same source of water from River Jordan, the sea of Galilee unlike Dead sea is pretty, resplendent with rich, colourful, marine life. The Sea of Galilee is home to 20 different types of fish. The reason is: The River of Jordan flows into the sea of Galilee and flows out which makes the waterbody healthy and vibrant. On the contrary, the Dead sea is so far below the mean sea level that it has no outlet. It is estimated that 7 million tones of water evaporate from the Dead sea everyday, leaving it salty.

This geographical phenomenon changes my total perception about life and the strategy an ideal man should adopt in life. An ideal man should believe in giving back to the society so that he gets respect, recognition and greater wealth. My purpose of writing this book is not about making money but leaving an indelible mark in the minds of my beloved readers through my messages.

Open the taps, and it will open the floodgates to happiness. Make a habit to share, to give.

The Frightening Dream

Part 1

The world which we know is what we see, we physically perceive but there are more things in existence that meet the eye. In common parlance, we as normal human beings don't accept our ignorance and that is where all problems on this earth originate.

It was a dark night at 2 a.m. when most of the living beings should be fast asleep, Rahul was awake on the terrace witnessed something very unnatural, rather supernatural, some shadow of a being (human seems to be) around 7 ft tall walking from the terrace where Rahul was lying to the terrace of the other building and his legs needed no intervention, internal stimulus or external force to stretch so long to cross terraces.

Suddenly Rahul was awake with lot of perspiration. His live in girlfriend Sima woke him up putting her hand on the shoulders of Rahul: again the same dream.

Rahul said: Yes. I couldn't get rid of that horrific dream which haunted me for quite a substantial period of time and subsequently deprived me of the relaxation I deserved after long hours of work at a BPO.” That is probably the cause of his separation from Soumi, the predecessor of Sima and her elder cousin but Sima is much more understanding than her elder sister as far as Rahul is concerned.

It is her suggestion that Rahul and Sima are going out of the hustle bustle of city life of Kolkata for a week to Mandarmani, Digha where the mental condition of Rahul is expected to be better. It has been six months that Rahul has off and on been disturbed by the same frightening dream and Sima who has been living with Rahul for 3 months only is finding various ways and means to give him some solace. Sima strongly believes that few nights out at Mandarmani is not all a bad idea but we never know what destiny has in store for each one of us.

Part 2

The problem of Rahul was not since birth. On the contrary Rahul grew up very healthy in terms of body and mind. The problem came to surface after the mysterious death of his father Late Shri Bhagwan Das who was the co-founder of Das & Brothers along with his younger brother Shri Jagannath Das. Das & Brothers is a garment manufacturing firm having factory at Krishnanagar,

A friend in need is a friend indeed: goes the adage. There are few who are neither batch mates in school or college nor office colleagues. They are also not neighbours. In one word, there is no reason for one to cling on to the other but they are friends because friendship transcends all barriers. They met by chance and promised to stay as friends forever. Such friends are very few, might even be a singular number. My book is dedicated to such friends who are the greatest inspiration in my life.
