Shellie

My hands are tied behind my back, and there is a blindfold on my eyes. It smells like burnt hair, probably mine. I was trying to burn the ropes, before I burned myself.
There is footsteps coming near me and someone lifts me up. I nearly scream, for the pain it causes me is ineffable, unbearable. Instead of screaming, I gasp in pain.
The man carrying me throws me over his shoulder, and this time I do scream. The second I do, he drops me onto something cold and hard. The Simulation Chambers floor. I hear him laugh, and as a departing "gift", he kicks me in the ribs, and cackles. He pulls the blindfold off and walks into the Chamber's control room.
He turns to someone standing in there, and I hear someone chuckle.
"Ready, Shellie?"
But not only is it not the man's voice that carried me in here. It's my brother, Ryan's.

I breathe in deeply. All that I can smell is burnt wood. I cough, the smoke getting into my lungs. I use water - the power I am training with - to douse some of the flames. But it does nearly nothing to the fire.
I hear a snap, and know Ryan sent a Dusk out after me. I spot it instantly, the darkness pulsing and throbbing around it. It cries out, probably expecting more Dusks to come to it's aid. I throw light at it, although I'm not supposed to use it. Nobody yells at me, though.
The Dusk screeches and drops to the gorund, and the simulation ends. That must have been what I was supposed to find to get out of the simulation.
I drop to my knees and gulp in pure air. It feels so much better to breathe in non-smokey air. When I catch my breath, someone claps.
"Nice job, sweetheart," Spencer says, "Although you shouldn't be using light in a water simulation."
"Spencer!" I yell, running towards him. Him and I haven't seen each other in months. "You're back!"
"Yep." He hugs me, and puts his head in the crook of my neck, "And I hear that you passed the exam on death."
"Yeah... Not really thrilled about that," I break out of his hug, " I'm glad you're back."
He grabs my hand, "Come on, they're letting you and I have pizza tonight."
"Really?"
"Yep." He smiles.
I smile back, "I can't wait."
"Go get ready. I'll swing by your room at about 6."
It's 5:30. The thing about having Earth is that you always know what time it is.
Chapter 2
Shellie
I put on a pair of skinny jeans, the only pair I own, and I am only allowed to wear them on special occasions. Usually, it's just sweat pants and a baggy t-shirt and hoodie, all black. Then, it's uniform, and it's easy to move in.
I grab one of my red hoodies and sit on the floor in the hallway, looking on my Palm Phone.
It doesn't have games and such like some do, but it gets calls and tells time. Oh, and until I get my full powers and magic, it holds all of that.
Spencer calls me and says, "Hey, I'll be there in a few. The Boss just shared something with me that I need to tell you."
"Ok." I say. He hangs up.
I sit for at least ten more minutes before he shows up.
"Hey! What's up?" I ask, curiosity peeked.
"I'll tell you when we get to my room."
"Fine."
He grabs my hand and entertwines his fingers in mine. "Hey, don't worry about it."
"Ok."
We arrive at his room, and he unlocks the door. He switches on the lights and there is two whole boxes of pizza on the table. The smell hits me and my mouth starts to water.
"Let's talk after dinner."
I almost protest, but my stomach grumbles and reminds me I only ate the pasty oatmeal for breakfast, and speant the rest of the day training.
"I can wait."
"Thought you would say that."
