The legend of the Giant of Greenland
Deep in the Tundra of Greenland, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of today’s world lies a secret waiting to be discovered. Somewhere in the mountains in a cave dwells a beast, who is unknown to the vast majority of mankind. A giant of peculiar appearance and unbelievable strength, who used to roam the icy plains of Greenland has now been condemned to stay in a certain place, eagerly awaiting the time, when he will let be loose to once again rave havoc upon the indigenous tribes and lonely wanderers of this desolate land.
Many stories have been told, and the presence of giants is still part of the folklore and cultural identity of the Inuit and other tribes, who have been living in this area for many centuries. There are many theories about the genesis of giants, and some believe that they came from the stars or were the offspring of angels and men.
This story is the story of a hiker who dared to discover the cavern of this Giant, who was claimed to have left it long ago. The story takes place in the late nineteenth century, a time when humanity was on the anvil of industrial and technological breakthrough, although one may say, that this kind of progress was not real progress, because it was causing the man to become more alienated from nature and his sole purpose of serving the most-high.
It was a late day in September, and the weather was already quite cold and harsh. Bitter winds were blowing across the land, and the hiker was traveling from the town of Nuuk further up north. His mission was to do some research in Kangerlussuaq.
