The Announcement

Poppy couldn’t wait to phone her best friend, KC, with the news. KC had left school early to go to the dentist, so she hadn’t heard the head teacher, Mrs. Clarke, making an announcement about the disco. Poppy was fidgeting impatiently as she waited for KC to come to the phone; she seemed to take ages.
“Hi there,” said KC at last.
“Guess what?” gasped Poppy, excitedly. “There’s going to be a disco at school next Friday”
